mumof2boys 71 Posted November 26, 2007 I was told to eat 5-6 small meals a day. My doctor said that I have to eat that often to increase my metabolism. I have stuck to it and so far it's working pretty well. Good luck!
wombat712 2 Posted November 26, 2007 I was told the same - only 3 meals and no Snacks. I have Snacks if I'm hungry. I drink a v-8 or have a piece of low-cal cheese, pretzels, etc. I have trouble with fruit so I haven't done that much. If I'm hungry I eat something otherwise I will not make a good choice at the next meal!!
Sades 4 Posted November 26, 2007 While on mushies, I was told 1/2 cup of food 3 times a day and if hungry then have 1/2 cup of yoghurt, pureed fruit etc. My dr told me that when I'm on solids, I would be eating 1 cup of food 3 times a day, around 1,000 cals a day. I can't imagine not having the odd snack but only time will tell.
losingjusme 12 Posted November 26, 2007 if i only ate 3 meals a day, they would be 3 continuous meals ... i have b/l/d and usually a very small (handful of almonds, etc) for a snack or 2.
Sades 4 Posted November 26, 2007 That's definitely what I was doing before banding... my family always made fun of me because even after complaining I was full, I would be snacking on something new. My argument was, how else can I maintain a body like mine!
HeatherA 1 Posted November 27, 2007 Thanks everyone!!! Looks like we all have to find our own way. I have a feeling that 3 meals and 1 snack (healthy) will work best for me. I now just have to wait and see.
jfran 0 Posted November 28, 2007 I was told 3 meals no Snacks but I have been doing 5-6 small meals instead. My doc says whatever works for me is fine with him.
morningoasis811 1 Posted November 28, 2007 They told me the same, 3 meals with no Snacks. However I believe that they hope it's a deturant for grazing you know. I do the 5-6 small meals a day. I'm only a month post op so I'm only able to get down 1/2 cup of food at a time. So I plan a lunch and just eat it in two phases. I'm hoping it keeps my metabolism higher. mss 1 Posted November 28, 2007 On the days that I eat Snacks in between my meals I find that I feel hungrier and want to eat more so I tend to stick to 3 meals a day. This has been a big change for me compared with my pre-band style of maybe 1 main meal a day and lots and lots and lots of snacks!
