Gas X Strips??

Recommended Posts

I have looked all over for these strips I keep hearing about and can’t find a single one. Are people just getting the product name wrong? All I have found are chewables and liquid gels. My surgery is tomorrow and I’m almost out of time to find them. I ended up getting the chewable kind for now, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to tolerate them fresh out of surgery.

I haven't been able to find them either! Online or in store... They seem to be unavailable and I don't see them listed on Gas-x's website. I'm wondering if they stopped making them.

I've been taking the chewable version for the last week post surgery and have done alright on them, but would like to see if the strips work any better.

Ok, so it’s not just me then. I think maybe they did stop making them because they are absolutely nowhere to be found. Good to know that the chewables are working well for you. Good luck on your journey!

I think they stopped making the strips several years ago. I tried looking for them before my surgery and the only place I could find them was on places like Ebay for crazy extortionist prices.

Honestly, I didn't need them. The gas pains are mostly in your abdominal cavity, not in your GI tract. So, taking any kind of "gas relief" isn't going to do much other than relieve your mind or maybe offer a placebo effect. Walk, move, use your incentive spirometer and within a day or 2 the gas pains will be gone.

Thanks so much! I will do just that!

They are discontinued a couple of years ago.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
