discomfort and pain 15 months later

Recommended Posts

So for the last few days I have had some real discomfort. I can eat and drink but fill up sooner (not so terrible). I have some real tenderness on the upper left abdomen and feel bloated. Not constipated. I am seeing my doc later in the week but wondering if anyone has any ideas?

For me it was a worst case scenario. At around the same time PO, I had that kind of discomfort/pain and it ended up being in internal hernia that opened up and my gut had come through it and twisted so I had a partial obstruction. Hope they figure it out quickly!

What have you been eating? I get bloaty and feel like I'm going to get the foamies if I eat fried food or something my stomach still won't tolerate (bread, tortillas, Pasta, potatoes).

nothing to do with food. have been eating really well and nothing in my diet changed. definitely something mechanical methinks, especially with the tenderness.

I have the same discomfort to the left of my pouch and under my left ribs. I have my 3 month follow up today and I plan to ask about it! Hope you hear back from your doc and we can compare notes later.

Edit* I just noticed that my appointment is on the 19th, so not today.

i'm 16 months out and LITERALLY going through the same thing. The bloating makes me have a hard time breathing, like i need to take a deep breath to catch up several times. Did you experience that, too?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
