Thoughts on rice cakes? I use to love them with PB and a couple raisins on top

rice is CRAZY high in calories. A lb of rice has 4 times more calories than a lb or potatoes. Wouldn't it be better to eat chips ?

My thoughts,

Do they fit in your weight loss calories/macros for the day? If rice cakes are on your food plan, no need to ask if they are ok to eat.

Not really a health food but not particularly evil as well, lol. If you like them, eat them. I like them to eat once in a while with Peanut Butter as well (have to try the raisin thing) or with other sweet spreads. I came to prefer the corn variation though.

ETA: my husband likes them with ham and cheese. 🤮🤢

I gave my thoughts. If they fit your plan, calorie/macros go for it. They taste like any other rice cake,

Honestly? I'd rather eat straight sugar or starch. They are very high glycemic, very low in Fiber, occupy real estate that at this point in your recovery should be dedicated to Protein.

In maintenance? If they're your jam. Go for it if it fits in your daily balance.

At your stage I focused on protein, al dente veg, and tiny bit of healthy fats. I reached 1st goal at about Month 9 or something like that? Lemme go look in my footer.

Now when I want something crunchy, I either make some low carb version or I eat a GG Brancrisp or a Wasa with Fiber.

Shouldn't even look at rice for months... Very bad carbs and very thick for your little stomach.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
