January Surgery Dates

Recommended Posts

I am so happy for all of you, you are :rolleyes2: (group Hug) so inspiring to read how well you are handling all of this. I go in one week 1/31 and am a bit nervous. Have started Protein Drinks, have been off my Diet Coke for over a week, Now am doing the 30 20 30 eating pattern and am only drinking Water "64 oz per day.

Found liquid Vitamin at costco yesterday and am happy since my doctor took me of meds till week after surgery!

Hi There,

I was banded on Jan 8th, Syracuse, Dr. Simon.

I'm doing very well. Lost 14 lbs. since the surgery, now I'm just trying to get enough nutrition to build up my energy.

Tired of liquids, but I'm afraid to move on to more solid foods.

Just wondering, what is the 30 20 30 eating pattern? Had surgery Monday, 21st. Experiencing a few of the aches and pains like some of you have mentioned. I also am not hungry but have been eating as prescribed by my doctors--things like 2oz. pureed All Bran moistened with 2oz. of skim milk for Breakfast, 2oz. pureed chicken/clear broth and 1/2c. sf-Jello for lunch, and 2oz. pureed tuna/dab mayo/broth and 2oz. pureed cooked carrots. Love my Magic Bullet blender. Oh yes, and a lot of Water. Keep the posts coming as it is interesting and helpful to know how people are doing after their lapband surgery.

30 20 30 is the way I was instructed to eat meals: 3 meals a day no water/fluids 30 minutes before meal, eat meal in 20 minustes and then no water/fluids for at least 30 minutes after. I am amazed at your diet, I was told no solids/mushies for 4 days then only mushies till day 7 then a soft diet till day 14 then slowly add firmer foods.Supposedly so stomach can heal from trama.

Your guidelines sound great will you please share your dr.’s post-op eating plan.

Wow - my doctor is really strict compared to everyone else's doctor. I am on 3 low-sugar Protein drinks per day for 2 weeks, then 2 protein drinks and 1 cup of mushies for 3 weeks, and then on to regular food. He won't do a fill until 8 weeks post-op.

Had my surgery on Tuesday. I am on clear liquid until Monday for follow-up - then I can move to clear and full liquid for about a week to 1 1/2 weeks then I can start moving to a blended diet - nothing remotely close to solid until week 4 or 4 after surgery.

Right now about all I can tolerate is smushie popsicles to help get my meds down and some broth - not to keen on the broth - it just seems extremely salty and greasy.

Sat up for several hours today, played on computer and watched some TV. If I saw one I saw 200 hundred food commercials... Amazing really when ya think about it - we are a nation obsessed with food methinks!

I hesitate to post my Dr's post-op eating plan because it is best that each person follow their own doctor's recommendations. But briefly, two days after surgery we go on the puree diet (texture similar to strained baby food) for two weeks, such things as:yogurt, sugar/fat free pudding, blenderized creamed Soups, pureed lean poultry, pork, fish, ff cottage cheese, Cream of Wheat/skimmed milk, pureed steamed vegetables (no hulls), unsweetened applesauce, etc. We are to eat a Protein source first, at every meal. I puree all my food to the consistency of a milkshake. Beginning the 3rd. week we go on a 'soft' diet, but always eating protein first. We are to eat 3 small meals and 2 small Snacks (i.e. skim milk, protein shake)/day. That's about it. Never did I think I'd love pureed food so much but after doing the two week liquid pre-op diet, I find I savor the taste of real food (though pureed of course). Good luck with you lap band and the eating program YOUR doctor recommends for you.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
