Acid reflux is seriously a pain!!

Recommended Posts

I literally just had acid reflux for the last two days I’m drinking almond milk because it says online that is very good for it. What do you guys do as a home remedy for It?

Do you have any omneprazole? I just got revised from sleeve to bypass because of hiatal hernia and gerd. The omneprazole kept the acid under control quite well. Sadly they are finding out more and more that the ppis are not safe to take long term.

You really should call your surgeon before you get too much damage from the acid.

Get the prescibed medication from your doctor - I have a post of the ones i use and they work great

Also a big mistake i was doing was drinking Water then laying down, It would flush back up with acid - Hurts like hell

Are we allowed baking soda? A teaspoon in warm Water is what I used to chug down for heartburn pre-op, you'll belch like crazy but it'll be gone in 10 mins.

a lot of us are/were put on a PPI (like omeprazole) for the first few months after surgery. I'm a little surprised you weren't. I'd run it by my surgeon - he/she may prescribe something for it. Acid reflux can cause damage if it's left untreated.

My doctor did for the first 30 days Give me omeprazole and it was working fine. I went to call him about it but no call back yet. I think it was I had Pasta Sauce with my meat balls and it just didn’t go well

if it was a tomato-based Pasta Sauce, that could be it. Tomatoes have a lot of acid.

Yes it was a japanese recipe that has a bit of soy sauce and ketchup that most definitely messed me up

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
