lvidacovich 372 Posted December 16, 2019 Samsung makes good smart watches. Just make sure you wanna stay with Android. I bought a motorola smart watch and got an iPhone at work so I had to buy an apple watch but I love it. 1 aelgin7779 reacted to this

aelgin7779 4 Posted December 16, 2019 Personally I would get whatever watch corresponds with your phone. I've thrown so much money at Fitbit and after my 6th one in 3 years died I said NO MORE!! I got the apple watch and haven't looked back! Even though I really loved my Fitbit products, they are NOT worth what you pay for them so you might as well spend a little extra and get something that's going to last. over65 133 Posted December 28, 2019 All wrist worn fitness trackers are crap. I guess people love them because it says they did way more exercise than they actually did. I did 3 loads of laundry and folded and Samsung watch said I took 10k steps. Truck drivers report 25k steps just steering and shifting with Fitbit. If you just track time with elevated heartbeat (cardio), you get a better estimate. Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

It is true that most (especially cheaper trackers) will record arm activity as if you are walking. But a good/high quality fitness tracker does less so AND also records mileage as well as "steps". I find that these activity trackers are much more accurate. Mine doesn't record so much arm activity while othwrwise stationary.... and I find that the mileage tracking is spot on. I know this because many times I walk long distances and have my husband pick me up to drive me home. We take the same route back and reset his trip odometer. It has been the same mileage for his car and my tracker each time. Also worth noting... that arm activity IS activity... for many morbidly obese people, any and all activity helps. Even if you start with folding laundry and cleaning the house more often.Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 chayarg reacted to this
PrettyBlack 1 Posted January 7, 2020 I have had a Samsung Gearfit 2 for over 3 years.. I have not had any problems with it. I'm considering the Samsung Active2 now. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
ms.sss 15,713 Posted January 8, 2020 I've had one version or another of the Apple Watch for the past 3 years. Love it and would recommend it to anyone who is already in the Apple eco-system. Could still be good with Android users, but you wouldn't get the most out of it, so like the other poster said above, get one that works best with whatever OS you are currently operating in. over65 133 Posted March 3, 2020 My experience with both Samsung Gearfit and Fitbit has been negative. Anything on your wrist measures all arm movement. One day all I did IS 2 loads of laundry and folded/put away and I recorded 10,000+ steps. A truck driver friend gets 15,000 "steps" by turning steering wheel and shifting. I think an old-fashion pedometer might be better or an app that actually measures distance via GPS.
