Had surgery Dec. 10th RNY, today I decided to go to Walmart and pick up a small mixer that puree food as well, my daughter pushed the buggy and loaded items into cart but I was plum wore out once we got home, I am talking all Vitamins without difficulty and on full liquid diet, getting in 3 Unjury Protein Shakes a day, 1 1/2 8oz cups of chicken broth a day! Should I be doing anything different or just slow my roll? Had to take a couple Aleve!

Congratulations on your surgery! My only advice would be to stay hydrated.

Your surgery is so recent....yes, your body is still healing and that's why you're tired. I'm about three weeks out and still get tired sometimes.

Rest, stay hydrated and keep doing what you're doing. Also, rest...😉

WOW!! You took a trip early. One week after my surgery I went to the market, pushed an empty cart and was exhausted. I am impressed! Yes, your energy will be low; major surgery, and eating and drinking next to nothing.

so, it took me six weeks to get up to the Water levels I needed. So, try sipping and ounce of water every 5 minutes. Then when you have Liquid Protein, its still sip, sip, sip, and walk, and sleep.

Down the line, think about getting an Instant Pot, a Vitamix Blender, and a air fryer. They really help with making multiple, healthy, fun bariatric meals.

Keep up the great job your are doing. Don't push yourself, you need to heal. :)

its absolutely normal to feel that way, your body is in shock right now because it doesnt have the same intake of calories and carbs like you were before. I slept on and off most of the time the first 3 weeks . Its a normal adjustment , sometimes even walking around the house had me exhausted before. totally normal!

Aleve is an NSAID. We're not supposed to take those.

Thank you for your response but I was advised by my physician I could!

@DeadSpaceGrave, yes absolutely walking around the house gets me too! I think I am just going to slow it down! Thank you so much!

I am 3 weeks out and feel exactly the same. Even the small stuff wears me out. We have to give ourselves time to recover from major surgery. It will get easier with time.

@Losingit2018, yes we got this with the help of our Bariatricpal family, I will take it easy and let my hubby or family do the shopping without me until I get better!

That is what I have done. I have a Walmart neighborhood market close by. I go online to place my order and husband goes to pick it up.

I did the same thing too 5 days postop. Lol I was by myself and leaned on the basket plus sat in the shoe department for 15 minutes before I could go on. My daughter asked me good if I wanted her to go to the store but nooooo, I told her. I need to walk :lol::lol: I was so exhausted and in pain I popped my tylenol 4 and went to sleep after I got home. I let my girls bring the groceries in and put them up. You did good but I would continue to take it slow. That was a lesson learned for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
