Yes, that's correct. There's also usually sutures over the staple line.

Staples? Where are they?

No staples in me you see, laparoscopy wounds are usually just stitched because they are small.

I think she means to her stomach - Yes they stay in for life and get covered up by your body as you heal

yes. Surgeons leave staples in with a lot of types of surgeries - not just bariatric. They're made of titanium and won't hurt you. I have some from my plastic surgery, too (in my abdomen)

This is the sleeve forum so I assume they are referring to how they make the sleeve from the stomach.

I've always had staples, the band in, the band out, and sleeve surgery. They come out lickety-split easier than stitches. Not an issue.

if you had gastric bypass, the two sections of your stomach are probably sectioned off by staples. I suppose they could have sutured it off, but they usually use staples.

All of my laparoscopic surgery used staples. I've had 4 and staples were always used.

I like taking staples out of patients, it is satisfying. Weird I know lol

Hahaha my bari nurse was telling me she hopes I get staples because no one ever does and she likes removing them too hahaha meanwhile I’m like 😰

pah ha glad it's not just me, there is something really satisfying about it, although i like taking stitches out too...
