Size of bands?????????

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why some 10cc's or 4cc's bands are used? It seems it woukld be easier to fill a 4cc and I was just banded and given a 100cc.

My surgeon told me it is all about the size of the stomach when he gets to see it,the bigger the stomach the bigger band is fitted otherwise it would be to tight even without a fill

Sue, hi again. It is all about anatomy. If you require a bigger band they give them to you. I have a 10 cc band. My band holds 4 ccs. Currently I am at 2.9 ccs and I'm up a few lbs from 3.2 ccs. I can't wait not to be hungry again with a fill back to 3.2ccs. Hope this answers your questions. P.S. Ask your surgeon how much your band holds. Mine holds 4 ccs but I have heard that some size 10 bands hold a lot more. Restriction can be a little tricky if you have the bigger band. I have heard good restriction with something like 7ccs. It depends on what your body can stand. It took me 5 fills to reach optimal restriction. Good luck.

My surgeon only uses 10cc bands now. He explained to me that the more saline it holds the more cushioning and traction created and the less likely it is to slip.

I agree with Lizzie-that is also what my dr told me- I have the aps band-10cc- as far as I know it holds 10cc of Fluid but I have heard it can hold a little more- I am at 4.4 cc's right now but go in for a fill tomorrow so we will see how much more I get.

My doctor only uses the 10cc band now on everyone. His nurse said they were new and seemed excited about them so.....I guess I should of ask her what was good about them.

Stacy. I have 5.9 but not enough restriction yet. I can eat anything. It still seems to signal me to stop about half way through what I would normally eat.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
