:help:I AM LOOKING FOR A GOOD Protein shake, ALREADY MIXED, LOW CARB. WHY IS IT TAKING ME FOREVER TO FIND? IDK MAYBE NOT LOOKING ENOUGH. HELP PLEASE.

Two suggestions: Atkins shakes and Low-Carb SlimFast. I haven't had an Atkins shake in a long time but I thought I'd try them again the next time I go to the store. But I do drink the Low-Carb SlimFast. It has 20 grams of Protein and only two net carbs (4 total minus 2 grams of Fiber.) They only have chocolate and vanilla, though, which is one reason I want to give the Atkins a try.

Good luck!

I didn't vote because apparently my Protein goal is off the chart. I'm a 6'0, big-boned guy and my doctor recommended a Protein goal of 115g to me.

On the pre-op I am having 3 New Directions Meal Replacements which are 27g per serving. I am also having 2 to 3 Matrix meal suppliments which are 23g.

I can't talk much more about pre-op because tomorrow is "op" and everything after that will be post-op, hah. I suspect post-op I'll be getting some of that protein-powder and adding it to foods to be able to break the 100g mark on a daily basis.

I voted no number but I try to get in 60grams a day but most of the time it is impossiable unless I have a Protein Shake.< /p>

I wasn't given a specific amount to aim for either. I was just told to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, which is what I do. I have never had any problems with Hair loss or anything else. I really don't want to count anything, so I don't.

I've been using Slim Fast Lo Carb until yesterday--when I received my order of "ZOIC" from Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, books, DVDs & more (belgian chocolate).

Zoic is of a thinner consistency but it has 110 calories to Slim Fast's 190, has 1 gram of fat to Slim Fast's 9 grams, has 5 carbs to Slim Fast's 6 carbs, and has 21 grams of Protein to Slim Fast's 20.

Taste-wise? Honestly, I have yet to find a canned Protein Drink that is wonderful--but both of these are decent (make sure they're cold). My true preference is for whey Protein isolate powder mixed in Water (again belgian chocolate or chocolate malt--both from the above website).

Keep trying--you'll find the one that suits you... ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
