Why do I still see a larger woman? Today i woke up at 141.4.... Loose size 6 slacks and i still feel not thin enough. What is wrong with my brain???? Most people would love to be a size 6..... I still see size 10-12.... I know, i should be grateful that i'm not the size 20+ i use to be.....

Girl I’m right with you I went from a 22 to a 12 with lots more to go and still see the same person in the mirror it’s very common and it takes a while for you to mentally catch up

Keep taking pictures. Write down your measurements. When you start to forget how far you've come (and how awesome you look!), the pics and numbers are there to remind you ❤️

I mean, not to be crass, but I see the pics on your profile and I see it! You look great! Might be body dysmorphia issues. I personally have the other issue - I see what I've lost and think I look great and don't see how I can lose another 70 pounds!

I totally understand!

Here's what can absolutely help:

The right mirror & light (crucial)

Dance moves (to prove you are still that *****)

Theme music (Beyonce- Run the World/Lizzo-Juice)

Outfit & shoes you love (glamorous/ made right/ lacy/ shimmering/ well tailored/ elegant/ slimming)

+optional: hair & makeup & adoring lover 😅

We Body Dysmorphia folk have to Celebrate our bodies in their current and future states or we can forget how far we've come

On days that I didn't see myself as smaller, I put on my size 24 pair of jeans and looked in the mirror. Hilarious to see them falling off. Size six is great, right? Enjoy it.

Seeing yourself correctly takes time. Its a strange experience.

I still have issues with judging how much space I need. I think I can’t fit through an isle because someone is there, but I can! Or I get pissed that someone parked to close to me, but forget I don’t have to open my door all the way to get in my car.

it takes awhile for your brain to catch up. Just this morning I saw one of those "Facebook memory" photos of me that was originally posted three years ago. I thought to myself "wow - I wish I could get that low again - I looked pretty good at that weight". I checked my weight from that week (I keep weekly records), and I weighed exactly the same as I did this morning. Surprise! (I did eventually drop another 15 lbs or so - but I got too, too low. I didn't look very healthy. My current weight is much better for me, but I'm still feeling/thinking like I'm too heavy. Nope! Not if I still look like that picture! (which I do!))

a common term I've encountered over the years is "body dysmorphia" describing the problem many of us have had in our personal history, of being able to accurately assess our own notion of 'body reality' as related to size or configuration. It did take considerable time for me to actually recognize myself in the occasional group photo, as I no longer was the largest one in the pack.

There seems to be an emotional component of the 'old me' that doesn't let go any easier than the extra cheeseburgers around our waists.

I also do this and am 1 year 8 months out. One time at the market I was waiting for a couple to move and they looked at me oddly for not squeezing by, then I realized it and snuck on by and started laughing at myself.

I am not alone! It took my 3 years to stop reaching for my head gear (hat) after I got out of the army, so I figure at least 3 years at goal weight before special awareness becomes my norm. 🙃

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
