Gas 4 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

I've been dealing with major gas and bloat since graduating to eating soft mushy foods. Even with chewing thoroughly and eating slower. I find myself belching often and it doesn't stop even if I use prescriptions and gas x. Makes it so annoying to eat sometimes.

Hopefully it won't be long before this improves for you.

What type of soft mushy foods are you eating? Are they contributing to gas/bloat do you think?

Perhaps another few days back on liquids/pureed foods may help? It may be that your stomach needs a little more time.

Well I notice it alot when trying to eat some boneless skinless sardines to get the Omega fatty acids and Protein, happens with cooked spinach, soft Protein Bar, chilli, flounder... pretty much anything that's not liquid or yogurt unfortunately..you may be right maybe I need to go back to all liquid for a few days

My doctor said to take it slow and introduce one food slowly to see if it’s giving you the effects. Could possibly be that you can no longer have those foods the body does change often. I would try chicken one day then sardines the next and so on and so fourth. Can’t handle it then reintroduce a week later. I’m also on the fourth weeks out had chili but the Beans gave me so much gas and nausea so I’m cutting them out til next Tuesday see if I can handle them. But I also do this when I get the bloating and gas the next day I tend to do a liquid only day then the next day I try one solid.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
