Pain after lifting something

Recommended Posts

I removed a bag of trash from my kitchen trash can and it was below the 20 pound weight restriction. I still managed to pull something and have been having pain from the big incision area when walking since then. I am hoping this is something that will cure itself in a couple of days. Very mad at myself because I have been getting around great and feel this is a setback for me.

Anyone else had anything similar happen? If so how long until it was better?

You have no reason to lift a single thing - It was made clear to me to not lift a thing - This could be medical and if not let up i would make a phone call - My doctor clearly told me do not lift anything heavier then a bottle of Water for a month and then do not lift anything heavier then a gallon of milk for 3 months - To this day i am very careful as to what i lift.

My idea to you is lay back today and see if it lets up If not call the Doc ASAP

The same thing happened to me. Wasn't thinking and lifted a gallon of Water. It resolved for me after a day. Stitches were intact and no bleeding. But, pick up the phone and call your doctor if you feel iffy.

I stretched during the night and had shooting pains for a day. It resolved and I don’t feel it anymore but I was worried for sure. Made a mental error unrelated to that instance where I picked up my three year old instinctively so he could see a passing jet. He’s about 40 lbs. I instantly put him back down and was worried but I didn’t feel anything thank goodness!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
