Hi All. My gastric sleeve surgery is scheduled for this Monday, the 2nd and my anxiety is through the roof right now. I’m fearful of getting cold feet. I’ve been working towards this for almost a year and now that it’s here I’m in a panic. My biggest fear is the nausea afterwards as I hate vomiting and I have this fear that I will be nauseous for the rest of my life. How long does it usually last? I just hope I’m making the right decision.

I was really scared to, I just got my sleeve on the 18th. I was only nauseas the first 2 days, however I didn’t vomit. I told my nurse I was really scared & they gave me meds to ease my nerves. Everything will work out & before you know it, you’ll be on your feet again (:

For me the nauseousness only a couple of days after. The nerves pre-op are bound to be high! There is so much going through your head and it's perfectly natural....breath, it's going to be worth it!
I'm 2 weeks post-op and you just forget all you went through at the time as you're concentrating on getting food in you, and the right food!
So hang on in there, it's going to be ok, best of luck! X

There is not one person here including myself who was not wound tight before the the day of surgery, Stay focused you have made the decision do not second guess yourself. I barely had any sickness after the surgery and get some ginger sticks or Bonnien Motion pills. They stop it cold for me right away.

The journey to being healthy and happy is about to begin, It is a tool and make sure you get your workshop in order including your head for this journey. You will love the trip

Now relax and go stand in front of a mirror and say good bye to the lifestyle that is freakin killing you right now, you got this

Stay focused and don't be afraid. My surgery was the first surgery I'd had ever!! Trust your surgeon and their team.

This is the first time for you, but remember, they've done this tons of times!

Good luck and see you on the other side. You've made an excellent decision for your health!!

I mirror everyone else's sentiment: you got tthis! I remember how nervous I was right before surgery, and after surgery I had a moment of panic - what had I just done? But two weeks later, 28 pounds down since surgery, and eating real (but soft) food, the world seems way better. The whole thing is freaky, but dont forget why you are doing it!

As for the nausea, I'm probably not the best person to ask. I was sick twice in the hospital and once at home. Each time was pretty easy, but it still sucked. That said, the first week I hated the hiccups more.

Thank you for sharing this tip. I will definitely be getting myself some ginger sticks now.

My surgery is three days away and I am super nervous too! I think a lot of people are because this is a big decision but trust in yourself that you are making the right choice for you. I want to congratulate you for coming this far in your journey. A lot of people do not put in the work to make it to surgery day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
