Hey guys/ladies :) I'm Em, from Cornwall, UK.

i had my gastric sleeve surgery on November 12th. Wish I'd found this site weeks ago! Anyhoo, I'm on stage 2 of food plan so mashed up veg etc, egg, even got some well chewed sushi down yesterday with no Ill effects.

The only issue I'm having seems to be garlic makes me nauseous, sucks as I love it! Garlic that is not the sickness :(

lost 2 stone since start of pre-op milk and jelly LRD so quite happy and feeling the benefits already!

1st few days were horrific due to the wind pain causing sickness and could only get Water down me. But cleared up quickly to get some Soup in.

one thing that really has helped me is the myFitnessPal to track how many calories I'm getting in, nutrition and mapMyWalk.

However I'm worried I'm only getting 500-600 calories in and simply can't eat any more yet. Is this ok?

I'm sure it'll go up and I'm eating Soups I've made packed full of veg and Protein, so just seeing if is ok at this stage?

how are you guys all doing?

YES! I didn't expect to feel the cold so much after the surgery. I know I've lost a lot of weight, but who would have expected that I'd freeze to death in California? Last winter I never wore shoes, just sandals the whole year through. This winter wont be the same.

I'm like constantly making hot Water bottles 🥶I hope we warm up again!
At least you are in California and the chances are it's warmer. Cornwall this time of year is just wind and rain......oh wait....and the rest of the year lol
But seriously, who woulda think it?
When was your op? Do we warm up again ? Mine was only on 12th Nov so I'm hoping it's just an initial thing 🤞

Welcome Em! I see that no one has posted on the warmth issue, it is something I'm slightly anxious about as well. Especially the extremities. I can put on a jumper to keep warm at the office and will bring in a lap blanket if I must, but my hands are constantly exposed to air as I type and move about my office. I'm hoping the body's temperature regulation kicks in for you soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
