I'm PRE-OP (Dec 9th surgery date) and I am checking with my nutritionist as well but I like to chat with my peeps in here.

Do any of you use coconut milk post-op to mix with your Protein Drinks, etc. (Light of course) . I know clears are before.

Just reading over my booklet again today. (LORD I AM OBSESSED WITH READING IT) I don't see it.

I look at every food as will it help my goals or not. There are no bad foods, just some unhelpful foods. Light coconut milk has the same calories as whole milk with no Vitamins. It's not a good source of Protein. I would look at almond milk instead.

Coconut milk is relatively high in fat and is a staple in the Keto diet. Not sure you want to drink it regularly during the initial weight loss phase when your ability to take in food is low...

Avoid the coconut milk. High fat, high calories & lower Protein & more carbs than cow’s milk. Not worth it during your weight loss stage.
My niece started drinking and cooking with coconut milk because of it’s heavily promoted ‘healthy’ benefits. She put on weight and her skin broke out in terrible acne. Stopped using it & her skin cleared up & she lost weight.
Personally I hate the taste of it. I had it once & found it way too rich & caused me many issues with my sensitive digestion.
Lot’s of other milk alternatives if you don’t want to use cow’s milk.

...also I just used Water and ice for mixing up my Protein Powder, and would 1-2 teaspoons of instant Decaf coffee crystals and some Benefibre or Clearlax for some help in the bathroom department ;)

I miss coconut milk but as others stated, no Protein value... if you want to increase the protein but not use cow's milk, you can use pea protein milk instead. I get the unsweetened vanilla and use it for my shake base.

I cook with coconut milk (curries and other east/south Asian cuisine) but I don't just drink it, except for a very rare coconut milk mocha from Starbucks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
