So sick 6 months post op

Recommended Posts

Hello, have you been eating anything different recently such as fattier foods? I am also six months out and have noticed that I had to go back to the basics of Soup and softer foods for awhile because I have been nauseous lately as well.

Please call your surgeon on Monday or asap and discuss it with them.

Agree with @JessLess. If you can't keep fluids down today, this is an ER visit. This can be many things at 6months. But generally, you don't feel nausea and food aversion like that at 6 months.

If you have pain associated with this nausea, you should call your doc this morning and discuss if this is an ER visit. It could be simple Constipation, a bug, too deep in ketosis (probably not), stricture, ulcers, or worse, a tortion (partial obstruction) from a twisted gut or internal hernia.

Or it could be gallbladder, appendix, pancreatitis, so many things and many of them are true emergencies.

Hope you get to the bottom of it quickly and begin feeling better.

Is it a long term thing or has the nausea just recently happened?

I'm writing for my friend she was found fine until she got severe esophagitis they had to put feeding tube in through nose.

So I had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday they admitted me into the hospital ran some tests this morning and I have a hiatal hernia

Interesting! I had one that they fixed in surgery. Glad they solved it, should be easy to take care of right?

I go in for surgery Thursday morning. Should be a simple fix.

They said eveytime I swallow the hernia blocks my stomach so nothing is going in the only option it has is to come up that explains why I have done nothing but vomit. I'm just ready to feel better again

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
