Can't handle protein shakes

Recommended Posts

I agree make your own light ones real light ones

For example

3 oz Almond Milk - 1/2 scoop Protien powder - a flavor (5 blueberrys) or a teaspoon of Peanut Butter - Then add ice and blend it in a nutra bullet.

Really sip it slow -

If you can find Shamrock Farms Protein Shakes by you I highly recommend them! I was in the same boat as you and these ones don't taste like Protein shakes at all!

Unjury readymade is the only thing I can handle. Order it and you can thank me later. I had massive anxiety about finding a shake I could tolerate.

I had the same problem. I would try the unflavored Protein or yogurt :) Good luck!

Agree with Brent 701. Unjury is not as sickening sweet as others. Their Protein chicken broth is decent and they also carry a unflavored protein powder. I use some of the ready to drink chocolate and vanilla, and flavored powders mix with Fairlife per RD. Hope this helps. Unjury.com

GNC carries clear Protein Drinks from Isopure. I tried several and found the Green Tea the most palatable. A couple other flavors I tried were fruit Punch and berry. I use these for my Protein instead of the powder or shakes. It also counts to your daily liquid intake. It takes 1-1/2 bottles a day to meet the 60 gram protein requirement.

I am going through the same. Was fine with shakes with my sleeve but can’t handle them after my revision to bypass.

I use fairlife milk (13 gma protein) Unjury chicken broth (21 gma protein) and Bone Broth (10 grams protein) to get my Protein in.

Hang in there and good luck.

Meal Replacement shakes are still an option even after surgery. Since most of them seem to be soooooo sweet, I typically Water them down.

I bought the GENEPRO at the suggestion of my daughter but have not used it yet. So far I am able to get the premier shakes down but think I will need something when I go to 1 shake a day in a few weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
