I am one week out from my sleeve and I'm going strong. I've lost 19 pounds post-OP so far and 60 pounds total. It's a great feeling. But it's been kind of tempered by two things:

1. I can't sleep to save my life - I'm up to 4 or 5 hours now, but it's broken in half with an hour or more awake in between. My doctor told me to add melatonin to my routine but it seems to just leave me drowsy, not put me to sleep. I'm walking a lot - I hit 9k steps yesterday. I've even been working on crafts when I'm resting, to keep active. I dont know what to do.

2. I feel like I've lost all my weight in strange places. For example, my breasts are definitely smaller, but I think my hips are almost exactly the same size. I can see the weight loss in my face, but my upper arms dont seem to have shrunk. How am I supposed to wear clothes like this?

Anyone else notice the weird, uneven weightloss?

Any advice on the insomnia?

Anything at all will help.

I too only sleep 4-5 hours a night . I am 11 days pre op. Doctors will not prescribe anything they due to apnea even though I am on Bi pap . 3 Benydryl ( 75 mg ) 30 mins before bed worked for me for 8 years. Quit about a month ago in prep of surgery . Just sayn..:) Weight loss starts vicerally, from inside out thus you lose the underlying support fat making things appear uneven. Totatly normal.

I recommend taking your measurements. It helped me out tremendously when the scale wasn't moving much. Turned out I had lost 27 inches!

I had really bad insomnia last night. Was super drowsy at 10pm, woke up wide awake at 1:30am, didn't get tired again until 4:30am and then slept until 9:30am. Other nights it's because I wake up feeling gassy and end up with very Water stools. (Never trust a fart!)

My doc added oxygen to my CPAP which helps, provided my mask doesn't leak. This morning I switched from sleeping upright with a large triangular pillow support my wife bought, to sleeping on my side with some blankets supporting my abdomen, and I was out like a light.

A farting , whistling , mask wakes me up several times a night when the pressure ramps up. They want me to bring my Trilogy 100 to surgery . I'm affraid of blowing air into my new sleeve causing a leak.

I have sort of watery stools, too! It freaks me out, but no issues yet, thank goodness. I haven't managed to make the transition from a reclining position to alayingbon my side or stomach (which was my favorite), though my doctor told me I could at this point. It still hurts the few times I've tried.

I highly suggest taking your body measurements and tracking them. This can help you with knowing where the weight is coming off. I have also been told that tracking your measurements can also help if you ever experience a stall because even though the scale might not move, your measurements might. :D

I have been tracking my body over the last couple weeks. The only pre-surgery measurements I had were several years older, but all more out of shape than I was directly before surgery, so I used them!

I found out that I'm probably allergic to shrimp as well as most fish today. I ate some for dinner and immediately was sick for the next several hours. Good times. I only just got back to work and already had to call in for tomorrow. 🤒

That's because you are all swollen and such. Give it a few days. You'll get there!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
