Hernia removal

Recommended Posts

My Dr claim he remove a hernia during surgery. I feel like he shouldn't have because i don't remember giving consent for that. I am actually very upset about the situation because i don't feel I had a hernia problem. I feel like suing him at this point because I am in more pain than i need to be because of this and my bellybutton is swollen an looks ugly

He did you a favor. Give it some time, this is not unusual .

My doctor did two "extra" things while performing my surgery, as well. A fact I didn't learn about until after the operation. I was surprised, and a little miffed as he indicated this might slow my healing process, and I need to get back to work. That said, much better to have it taken care of now than to have another surgery in a couple months. I'd recommend seeing how you feel in a few weeks. If you are still angry, lodge a complaint with the hospital. It would be hard to win a lawsuit when he can prove it was going to be needed sooner or later, so wait to see how you heal first.

I had a hernia repaired during my sleeve. I have seen it is very common to find it while they are in there. Mine was very small. However we did discussed what ifs before the surgery and what I would want him to do in certain cases.

I also lost my gall bladder during my surgery. They also removed most of my stomach. I had not felt sick until the weeks prior to my surgery when I was a tad nauseous and losing weight.

What did he do Gallbladder & Appendix ? My surgeon said these may also be removed if they appear to be problematic .

I had a hernia repaired (just a minor one) and he found some kind of growths he removed, he said it wasn't cancer, so I guess that's alright.

The incision near the belly button is where the camera was inserted. Shouldn't have a thing to do with a hernia.

BTW, are you aware that a hiatal hernia is a major cause of reflux?

The only one who will get rich from a lawsuit is the lawyer.

I had a hiatal hernia repair during my sleeve. I believe it’s pretty common. If you did have a hernia it could cause problems later on as the bowel can come out through the hole in the lining and you could end up with an obstruction.

I also had a hiatal hernia that was removed. I was having awful acid reflux before my surgery and it was the culprit, so they fixed it and all is better now.

I am going to tell my surgeon to take out anything he sees that is not healthy and could cause me to have to come back later! I really wish he could do a face lift too but wrong end!😂

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
