Third Time Surgery the Charm?

Recommended Posts

I had a lapband in 2012 that did almost nothing and finally slipped in 2015 where it was revised to a sleeve. I lost a tiny bit then started steadily regaining within a year. It turns out that my sleeve surgeon left my sleeve very large. My final and third surgery will obviously be my last, and I am going to be serious and dedicated.

I had my sleeve redone plus the SADI-S procedure at 166lbs (5’1”) this morning with Dr. Wihelmy at Mexicali Bariatric.

I am in pain but already standing and walking around.

Please feel free to ask me any questions. I intend to become an active forum member to hold myself accountable and make some motivational buddies!

3 days post-op and I am being discharged tomorrow afternoon!

Drain is out, IV is out, and I am on oral pain meds only. Barely any pain. 2 leak tests clear.

The first 3 nights in the hospital I struggled a lot with discomfort (not pain, just getting comfortable and not being able to sleep) but I have trouble sleeping in general.

I was walking just a few hours after my surgery.

Tomorrow, I am off to recuperate in a nice hotel for a week before flying across the country (since I'm alone, I thought this would be a good plan).

This surgery was more serious and thus more difficult than my previous 2, but overall, everything has gone really well and I have no complaints.

Glad to hear your surgery went well and that you are off to recuperate in a nice hotel. Keep up the great walking and sipping, remember to get as much Protein in you as you can, and keep us posted on your progress. You are on your way!! ((HUGS))

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
