LadyVS 75 Posted November 20, 2019 Hello everyone. I finally had surgery this past Monday, 11/18. It took my surgeon a while to get the Lapband out of me because of all the scar tissue that had accumulated. I was supposed to come home yesterday, but I couldn't. I was in so much freaking pain and had so much nausea that I stayed until today. So I sat in my favorite recliner after getting home for about 20 minutes and well, I've been in bed ever since. I knew it was going to be painful, but dang this really hurts. I'm not hungry at all which is the point/purpose. I've lost two pounds so far, and I know that as the swelling, gas, and pain fades, I will continue to get smaller. Yeahhhhh, now I'm excited and happy! 3 1 2 m.simpson88, Losingit2018, Bastian and 3 others reacted to this

SorryNameTaken 85 Posted November 20, 2019 I just had a band to bypass revision on October 24. It took them a while to get my band out too with all the scar tissue and mine ended up being slipped even though they didn't think i t was going to be. I am so sorry you are dealing with so much pain, I didn't have any real significant pain. But I will tell you, being band-free is SO nice, all the pain should be worth it! Congrats on your revision! 1 agwill reacted to this

LadyVS 75 Posted November 21, 2019 So after surgery, the area where the Lapband was, was the area of most discomfort and pain. Now that the gas has passed from that area, I'm feeling the pain from the others cuts that he made to do the sleeve. I'm still getting over the flu so it hurts really really bad when I cough. I will be so glad when all that mucos finally leaves my body completely. It's almost gone. Hallelujah! 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
Machalo 283 Posted November 21, 2019 I'm so glad your surgery was successful @LadyVS and that you are on the mend. I'm sorry to hear about your pain, I hope that it fades quickly, and I share your excitement about the future. You are going to rock this one! LadyVS 75 Posted November 22, 2019 So because of all the coughing, I have awakened to my chest hurting. So I'm lying here with my heating pad across my chest and these wraps on my leg like in the hospital. They keep your blood circulating while you are sitting or sleeping for 2 hours or more. LadyVS 75 Posted November 23, 2019 So this morning I decided to spruce up my coffee by adding some Protein Powder to it. I can't believe I love it. Gave it a flavor of it's own. Decaf of course. I'm also eating oatmeal to help with not being so darn hungry and you guessed it, it worked by adding some Protein powder in it as well. Yeah, the second time around is a charm. It feels really great to drink and eat and not have anything get stuck, and then you have to go to the bathroom and throw it up because of the discomfort you are experiencing. I do not regret getting the Lapband, because it did what I needed it to do; however, I'm glad I made a decision to receive a tool that I could have reversed if necessary and well after 8 1/2 years, it was necessary to have it removed. So on this 5th day of postop, I'm feeling grateful, thankful, and blessed.
LadyVS 75 Posted November 25, 2019 One week postop and I'm feeling wonderful!!!!! I washed the dishes and made coffee early this morning. In another hour or so, I plan on taking a couple laps around the parking lot as I stay right by the school. Walking that is. It is a gorgeous day out. I find that Premier Protein RTD mixes WAY better in coffee than any powder I tried. vanilla and carmel make great creamer! 1 LadyVS reacted to this
LadyVS 75 Posted November 27, 2019 (edited) Yesterday was my postop appointment and I have graduated to pureed foods plus all ground meat, fish, and scrambled eggs. OMG!!!! I couldn't believe my ears when my DOC said that. I was so happy that I could eat meat and I did just that. Ate some tuna. Oh what a relief that was. Talking about the sluggish feeling that I had been feeling went away about 20 minutes later because it took that long for my tummy to realize that it wasn't getting any liquids but some real food. So I immediately started having gas pains and after it passed, man I felt great the rest of the evening. Saying that was perfect timing because we were headed out of town immediately after my appointment was over. So the cooler full of liquids, was packed for nothing lol, smh. , but it's okay because I'm still going to eat my Jello, and I have to still incorporate at least one Protein Shake a day. That will not be hard at all. I'm so excited!!!!!! yeah! Edited November 27, 2019 by LadyVS
JRT Mom 919 Posted November 27, 2019 You are two days ahead of me (lap band to RNY) and you are right--it's worse than you expect but I now feel I have turned the corner and just might live...😁 But dang, your surgeon is really aggressive on your post op diet. I'm one week out and overjoyed that I get to eat cottage cheese and watered down mashed taters. I can add meat at week three, but since I'm a vegetarian that's no help. I can eat 1/2 an egg at three weeks, though...and I'm so happy I'm cackling!
