jlb8080 45 Posted November 20, 2019 So I am seeing a lot of people who still have to meet longer term requirements to get approved for surgery than I did. I was told by my primary care doctor he did not have to give an approval..Go straight to the gastric dr. They had me do a psych eval that day and they sent in my BMI with that to insurance, BCBS of ND and I was approved in a week. I have a friend who wants surgery and I told him my experience..but he isn't having such luck. It's crazy how things change state to state and the insurance requirements. jlb8080 45 Posted November 20, 2019 @Raebae yeah, I figured things just changed nationwide and tried helping my friend out and even my sister out with their surgery. I see I am very lucky.
catwoman7 11,221 Posted November 20, 2019 I'm not sure the state makes a difference - but the insurance company definitely does - and the surgeon as well. Some surgeons require more clearances than others.
