Woman starting at over 300lbs weight loss success

Recommended Posts

I'm 3+ years out and can't remember specifics, but I can tell you I'm down 150 pounds and fluctuate between 152-160 most weeks.

You will see it varies with everyone, but I think the rule of thumb Dr's use is 80-90% of excess weight in 6 months.

As usual it seems to be the more you need to lose the faster it happens, but again depends on the individual :)

Oh fab, welcome to the journey :D

Sip sip sippity sip fluids and focus on your Protein and don't rush to get onto 'real' food, just chill now, your body can start healing, start some gentle exercise once you feel up to it and come and chat here if you have a hard day/moment :)

rate of weight loss is a very individual thing depending on so many factors - age, gender, starting BMI, metabolic rate, activity level, whether or not you lost a lot of weight pre-op, etc. Some lose it super fast and others lose it slowly. But if you stick to your program, the weight WILL come off, whether fast or slow. I was a slow loser the whole time. I thought I would never lose all my excess weight at the rate I was going, but I did...

I read somewhere that the first few weeks it's 5-10 lbs a week then 2-3 pounds a week on average (of course most of us had the expected 3 week stall). I initially lost maybe 8-10 total in the first 2 weeks then it dropped to 3/week then 2 a week steadily unitl the 6/7 month mark when I hit my goal of 70 lbs. Everyone is different.

I was 330lbs. I lost about 70lbs the first 6 months., I had my surgery 1/29/2019. Today 11/30/19, I was at ths doctor and I weighed in at 217.2lbs. The past month its really slowed down. If you can get in 80-100g of Protein and lots of Fluid you can lose more weight and not be so hungry. I wish you the best of luck. You got this! I shouldve taken more before pics so I could compare. Don't have very many. But this is 1p3lbs gone I think...inCollage_20191023_020705475.thumb.jpg.9356a3ae88f74d61ca0d5a02ba0cd227.jpg

Congrats on surgery.

My highest all time was 325lbs.

My most recent high when I started this journey in May of 2017 I weighed 287lbs and was 256lbs the first visit and weigh in with the surgeon.

I weighed 222lbs on surgery day at 6 months into the program.

I reached 1st goal at 7 months I think? That was 150lbs.

This morning post poopy I weighed 131.4lbs.

It will happen quicker than you think.

In general expect 2-4lbs of loss per week as average. The first two months people usually lose their most weight cuz that's when they are eating the least.

Congratulations. I haven't weighed 131 since 7th grade. I can't even fathom losing so much. I've totally slowed down :( I bet you look great. Take care :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
