I'm 11 days post-op and I just looked at my nutrition numbers on My Fitness Pal for the last 7 days. I've averaged 453 calories daily and 61 grams of Protein daily. Does this seem about right? I thought my Protein average would be higher, but I fell short one day with only 40 grams, so that brought the average down. How many calories/grams of protein are you eating/drinking?

Don't worry about calories. Just get your protein in. My doctor recommended 60 grams protein daily. So looks like you are doing well. I am 3 weeks post-OP and averaging about 600 calories and 60-80 grams protein daily. I did my weekly weigh in and I am down 23 lbs from my surgery weight.

Thought I’d share dinner.
White chicken chili Topped with a dab of yogurt and a couple pieces of avacado

Love my mini dish wear! They r great!!! I probably will only finish a third of this and then save it. The container holds 3 oz!

What is everyone else enjoying tonight?

That looks great! Can't wait to eat more consistency.

I tried avocado for lunch and it was awesome! Had egg drop Soup tonight. Trying to warm my stomach up to eggs before actually trying them!

My dietician didn't give me any macro or calorie specifications. Instead, I was given diet for diabetics. Daily intake is 2 servings of milk product, 2 servings of fruit, 5 servings of fat, unlimited nonstarchy vegetables, 3 servings grains/beans/starchy vegetables and 7 servings of Protein.

Have a list of what makes a serving size.

Example, one fat serving
is small avocado, 1 Tbsp nuts or seeds ot 1 Tbsp Salad Dressing.< br>
One grain/beans category serving is 2 slices of whole wheat bread, medium baked potato, 1 cup rice or pasta

Milk serving is 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt or skim or low fat milk.

One serving of protein is 1 egg, 3 oz lean chicken or fish, hard cheese

That looks yummy! I'm drinking Tomato Soup with Protein Powder thinned with skim milk. It is really good Tomato Soup with roasted red peppers from Trader Joe's.

That sounds very similar to my pre-op recommendations. We are still posting in a pre-op thread because that's where we started, but all the January folks are now post-op, so we're moving through the different stages. Hope all goes well with your surgery!

I can’t do full eggs only egg whites. The full egg makes me not feel too good. But when I ate chicken it didn’t effect me at all. I really enjoy chicken and fish and shrimp

How did you cook the chicken? I heard it's like the hardest thing to keep down?

My dietitian recommended canned chicken on the soft food phase as it is cooked in the can which makes it easier to handle. I have until next Thursday before I can start soft foods, so I can't tell you if my dietitian was right or not. But, the do a lot of WLS so I am confident in their advice.

So I bake my chicken. Also I use chicken thighs not breast so they have more moisture. I do boneless skinless. I marinate them and then bake them. The chicken chili was done in a crock pot I place the chicken in frozen. One breast has 3 grams fat and one thigh has 5 grams. So not a big difference.

I start tomorrow and a Buffalo chicken puree is first on my list. I'll keep you posted !

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
