Did you have surgical tape put on? I'm almost 4 weeks out & just had the last one fall off. Different surgeons have different styles. You look great & I'm glad you are not in pain!

No it was a glue.

I'm not hungry at all, but when I eat (actually just drink now) I'm just not feeling the intense restriction most people feel.

Same. Went to post op today and the doc said that’s about to change when I start eating soft food.

Uh oh, that scares me! It's been so nice not being hungry.

How often will you see your doctor? Since my surgery was in Mexcico, my family doc is handling aftercare. I saw her Monday, one week post-op, then labs every 3 months.

I go back in a month and then he said to call today for an appointment with my GP to adjust meds. My BP was high yesterday so I doubt he’ll take me off BP meds yet. Who knows. I think it was white coat syndrome if you know what I mean.

Hello all,
I got my gastric sleeve done on January 23rd and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. I’m on Stage 3 now and I am so happy I can eat. My first meal was straight from the “book” and boy were my eyes bigger than my stomach literally. I can do it, you can do it, we can do it.

I had my sleeve on the 30th, along with a surprise hiatel hernia repair. I'm off all the pain and nausea meds and desperately tired of Jello and the other Clear Liquids. The only thing that is saving me is the bag of ice we bought at Sonic. I'm crunching that stuff like crazy until tomorrow when I hope they will release me from clear liquids on to puree. The lovenox injections are going fine too, except sometimes they leave a giant ugly bruise and sometimes they don't. Weird. I have been gratefully lurking reading all the posts and appreciate all the information it has provided me.

I loved sonic ice and I would put a little lime salt in it or I would spray a little liquid juice like mio on itinerary was a life saver the first week.
For the injections hold the fatty area inject (do not remove needle yet) hold skin for about 2 second then Let the skin go and remove needle at the same time and that will help stop bruising. Also inject fast not slow kind of like a little stab.
Can u have strained Soups on ur liquid diet? Egg drop Soup is yummy and wonton soup to switch things up.
Keep your head up you are doing great and these tough stages will be over very soon!!!

I had a cold. And I had a struggle with finding medicine that worked I don’t think it absorbed properly. Even though our absorption of medicine takes place in our bowel area not our stomach area. So idk why I was having problems. But honestly liquid NyQuil worked the best and I took emergency mix twice a day. It was so strange feeling the NyQuil I felt it go down and coat my entire tiny stomach. It was kind of awesome. I also used the sinus nose spray Flonase and saline spray to loosen everything up so I could blow my nose. Then I also got the Vick’s shower tabs and the Vick’s inhaler for ur nose. yea I was down and out for 3 days. And with already low energy from lack of calories it was exhausting. I also had to eat a little ritz cracker when I took the NyQuil or I would throw it up just the medicine on an empty stomach didn’t work. I tried to do more options that didn’t include me orally taking medicine.

Hi there! Glad you stopped in to introduce yourself. I hope you get to move on to purees tomorrow. I had mine on the 27th, but I don't move on to purees until day 18, so I'm still on full liquids. I'm still amazed the protocols are so different, depending on the surgeon.

I am starting to get a little hunger back. Nothing like before surgery. Eating a quarter to half cup of food satisfies me though. I still have a little bit of head hunger at times and like mentioned above me eyes can be bigger than my banana stomach. But I just save the leftovers for later. Been averaging about 600 calories a day with 60-80 grams of Protein.

I actually got a cold the week before surgery and took Zicam rapid melts and was completely clear the day of surgery. I think they’re just two forms of zinc, that’s why I was able to take them up until the day of surgery. I actually still take them as part of my supplement regimen because zinc helps the immune system. Hope you feel better soon.

Neither did I during the liquid stage. I was able to sip so easily that I was afraid my sleeve wasn’t small enough. Began soft foods and boy oh boy-restriction doesn’t even come close to describing how little I can actually eat. If I get try to get down more than 1 oz in half hour I feel like I ate a whole pig and I’m lucky if I don’t get the foamies. I have to walk around after every bite. It’s now taking longer to get down a full Protein Drink. Used to be 1/2 hour for 8 oz Protein Shake now it takes 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Apparently my new baby tummy is very finicky. I guess my biggest fear is stretching my sleeve so if I feel restriction after two bites I wait half hour and try something different or just drink a Protein shake (learned that from Dr. V). When you take a bite and feel that burn the second you swallow you’ll ask yourself why you were ever concerned about not feeling restriction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
