You can try ensure MAX Protein they settled with me a lot better than premier. Just make sure you only drink the MAX PROTEIN ensure the others r too high carb and fat.

I will try that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Have you tried the fairlife core? It literally tastes like a milkshake

No I haven’t. I loved the Premier Protein before surgery so I never tried anything after I found that. But I will definitely give it a try. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah I have a hard time with the thickness of and aftertaste of premier. Fairlife is legit amazing. You can get it at most stores !

Also—I’m stressing over the hospital stay. How long (fellow VSGs) did you have to stay in the hospital???

I had surgery at 10 am on Thursday and was out by 10 am on Saturday. So two days for me.

How soon after surgery is everyone allowed to start taking whole tablets again? Crushing my blood pressure tablets seems to be making my BP go nuts....

Surgery tomorrow morning and I've spent all weekend like spring cleaning - scrubbing grout, changing dining room decor, rearranging furniture, going through clothes (three huge donation pikes and one huge trash bag), organizing cabinets that were pretty organized haha. I feel like I'm nesting or something!

Well it's been 6 days since surgery. I finally got a real shower Sunday which was great, but it irritated the Dickens out of my drain hole. Now sore again and the two incisions/sutures where the hole is is so ITCHY. driving me bonkers. I can't get it it because of the gauze and dressings ugh.
In other news, I'm a little behind where I should be getting fluids and Protein in. I hope I can get up to higher amounts soon. I know I'm probably already dehydrated, but I'm doing the best I can and just haven't been able to drink more yet without getting chest pressure. [emoji852]️

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
