I cant stomach vitamins

Recommended Posts

I just got this kind of "keurig" for Vitamins. It's called Tespo. It blends all of my daily bariatric vitamins so I can drink them instead of take them in pill form. I'm supposed to take 2 servings a day, but when I try to take them I just end up puking uncontrollably and it ruins my whole day in regards to being able to eat anything. Has anyone had any similar problems to vitamins like this at all?

I have always had a hard time keeping Vitamins down. That's why I bought the BariMelts that melt in your mouth. I'm having my surgery on the 26th, but have been using the Barimelts for a month now. Hope that helps.

This is common - You may want to try some of the liquid vitamins also - I mix em all up really cant handle the pill also i dont toss them but they do raise hell for a long time

The powders work good for me as long as i dilute them with protien shake

I had a very similar challenge. I was sick to my stomach for 6 straight weeks post-op and determined it was the multi I was taking, just too strong for my stomach. I switched to VitaCraves adult multi Gummy and take an Iron gummy too and it has made a world of difference. No puking and able to eat food and keep it down. You just need to find what works for you. All Vitamins are not created equally.

I’m a little over a year out and I still can’t stomach them. I have to have something already in my tummy to keep them down

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
