I'm pre-surgery - just got my date of 12/31/19 - but so far on my pre-op diet I've lost almost 35 lbs. However, I'm pretty tall and carry my weight fairly evenly so that hasn't resulted in much change in clothing size until just this last week.

I have a large plastic storage bin I've been putting my too small clothes in because I was planning on losing weight. I went through it today and more than half of them fit :) My closet suddenly got much fuller - yay!

That is awesome! I have only lost 8#s so far and plan on losing more I haven't stuck to my diet d/t I call myself having a food funeral! Every time I try to I feel guilty and start eating my fruits and vegetables. I had my husband go get me some fried fish and he brought me back 3 pieces with a biscuit covered in honey and I only ate one piece of fish and a pinch off of the biscuit, I tried but couldn't eat it. I am officially starting Monday my liver shrinking diet! Back to the baked fish, baked chicken, sugar free Jello and countless veggies. I wish you the best on you surgery date and I promise to keep in touch to let you know how things are going. I go to my pre-surgery date on November 22 and they told me to bring my support person and that is next Friday, I have so many mixed emotions, I am happy, scared and cannot wait to do as you have start pulling my smaller clothes out of the closet and totes and putting my larger ones in. I am currently a 2xl in tops could use a 3x but refuse to purchase them. I am going to also stock up on my Protein Shakes, Water, G2 and sugar free popsicles.

Good luck! I'll have to do a 2 week liver shrinking diet as well - not sure yet what that means for my surgeon but I'm hoping it's not just liquids.

Please do let me know how your surgery goes! Sounds like you'll be a couple of weeks ahead of me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
