Bella Sass 6 Posted November 14, 2019 I am just starting my journey. I haven't made up my mind if I am going to do the surgery. I'm leaning towards the gastric sleeve. This whole journey scares me but I know I have to do something or my health is going to get worst. I know I have to live a healthier lifestyle. I haven't told most of my family and a few friends. I'm a little worried about what they may say. I know I need support to make it through this journey. I know I can do this My next appointment is next week and I will be seeing the nutrition and exercise person. SISSYJ 16 Posted November 15, 2019 I had my gastric sleeve on Oct 28th,2019...so I am 3 weeks post op....Best thing I ever did for myself...Only lost a few pounds since surgery but can tell I am losing by my clothes.....since surgery ( three days after) I have come off BP medicine that I have taken for 25 years and the completely uncontrollable Bladder is no longer a problem...I have gone from a 3x to a 1x ...I was setting a new digital clock today in the kitchen and wanted to get it to my bedroom before to much times lapsed so I took off with my husbands walker and ran as fast as I could to the bedroom to plug it in...I haven't run in years.....I think I might have helped a back problem that I have had for several years now...I probably scared it to death...lol oh and dumb me should have realized that running there to plug in wasn't going to work....when I unplugged it I lost everything just like as if the power had gone off...I wasn't thinking straight....I have not used any of the medicines that were prescribed for me to take for pain, nausea, or cramps...I have had none of those....only problem that I have had was eating to much of the Protein drinks or whatever at one sitting.....I should have been trying for 2 oz instead of 4 but since I learned that was what was causing so much gas,,,I just cut back....Dr. said on 2 wk post op visit that I was doing great...I know this has been easier on me than a lot of people that I read about and I am so thankful for that.. I do have a problem trying to drink the amount of Water that they want me to drink...I have never been one to drink water at all...and I sometimes don't get all the protein in....but I am trying...putting one foot in front of the other and doing it one day at a time....So I would say GO FOR IT,,,as everyone will tell you , you will not regret it...God Bless...I chose the sleeve because it is less invasive to the body....I am 79 years old and never thought that I would even be approved for this surgery,,,,Feeling good and Know that God is Blessing me here... 1 Lynda486 reacted to this
AJ Tylo 1,399 Posted November 15, 2019 Here i go again being brutally Honest You have made the decision for yourself and Do not count on the support from those around you, THey do not understand, Really read all the posts on support and how people change and view your decision post op. But F@#ck em, this is your decision and you will be very happy and confident with your decision, The journey has its bumps and road blocks, You need to be a ice queen and Be out for yourself, Support is here, and hopefully you get some support at home, but it is you! and only you that is going to plow thru this - I went at it the wrong way and really Fubared it up post op. eporter 69 Posted November 15, 2019 I went into this also not knowing if I wanted the surgery but my insurance required 6 months of doctors visits (among other requirements) and that was the perfect amount of time for me to figure out what I wanted to do. I went to each visit “unsure” and my pcp supported my indecisiveness and never pushed me to do it; or not. Take this time to research everything, the good, the bad, the ugly. Make the decision based off of how you feel about what you’ve found. Get minimal opinions from others (I only discussed it with my spouse, mom, & MIL) and even then their opinions were taken with a grain of salt.

I have been wondering if I should tell some or all of members of my family. Now I see I have to choose the ones I know will be supportive.Sent from my LG-US998 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 eporter reacted to this
