theexfatgirl 25 Posted November 10, 2019 Thanks. I do think we are all adults on this forum. It’s really aggravating to keep seeing the non-supportive responses (not saying your is non-supportive). 2 Lynda486 and Krimsonbutterflies reacted to this
bennyhoff6 3 Posted November 10, 2019 I had the bypass on the 22... a week later I had IVs at home for 5 days and it was awesome. However, now I’m having a hard time getting enough fluids AND the Protein. It’s one or the other for me, sometimes I suck at both. I do not regret it one bit but I’m anxious to get my energy back. I went to an Escape Room today and I swear, my brain is not functioning. Was useless, lol. Once you can have soft food, it won’t be as bad. Think about it...it’s a few crappy weeks out of your (most likely longer) life. It’ll be worth it. 3 KarenLR75, FluffyChix and Dances with Carbs reacted to this
Dances with Carbs 168 Posted November 10, 2019 First 2 weeks were psychologically rough on me as well. I had a huge support system and i was still feeling regret and I definitely felt sorry for myself. I refused to give up though. Just focus on one day at a time. It will get better. Be kind to yourself. This is healing time. 2 FluffyChix and KarenLR75 reacted to this
undacover 23 Posted November 10, 2019 I have my op in a few days and the past 3 weeks of dieting and shakes has been hell. You have gone through a major life change and you have taken out sugars and other things. Your brain needs some time to settle. Everyone will get the "am i doing the right thing" or regret because its new and uncomfortable but in a few weeks it will be the norm. 3 FluffyChix, Dances with Carbs and KarenLR75 reacted to this
Gilliann 3 Posted November 10, 2019 I had my surgery on the 26th sept 2019,and I know exactly how you are feeling.I am seeing great weight loss ,but I am missing eating big time!Eating and drinking played a really big part of my life and now that’s been taken away,I feel bitter about it,as my eyes are still greedy, but I know my stomach won’t take it.What I’m trying to say is,you are definately not alone,in the way you are feeling and hopefully our journey will get easier over time x 3 KarenLR75, Deedee12 and FluffyChix reacted to this

Sheribear68 3,201 Posted November 10, 2019 Also drinking plain milk is very beneficial. If it hadn’t been for fairlife, I probably wouldn’t have hit any Protein goals for 6-8 weeks 3 KarenLR75, Lynda486 and FluffyChix reacted to this
always 59 Posted November 10, 2019 Wow u poor thing most programs are at least 6months prep pre-op. My rule is if Protein isn't the highest out of protein, sugar, fat you can't have it. Protein first, fat under 5, sugars under 5. I lived on Protein Shakes, eggs, protein Water until I was feeling stronger. I had never felt so weak and exhausted all the time. Around 8 -10 weeks you start feeling normal again. Shame on your program not mentally preparing you. Find a support group in your area, they are everywhere. Plus there is always here. Sheribear68 3,201 Posted November 11, 2019 Honestly for me Protein comes after Water, but I consider pretty dang important. I can (and do) take my bariatric supplements daily. I haven’t had a single piece of fruit since February and I have zero Vitamin deficiencies. Almost all of my non-protein calories are in the form of veggie-carbs and a bit of fat— usually animal fat as I tend to eat very high protein most days. I can consume 700 calories in a day and get in >90gm protein and <20 gm carbs. In fact, I do that at least 3-4 days weekly. That being said, I have practiced IF and only get in 20-ish gm protein on my fasting days if I don’t supplement with a shake.
New&Improved 1,780 Posted November 11, 2019 Protein is very important..not only does it help your body heal it also helps build muscle and not let your body turn to skin and bones not to mention the added amino acids in most decent protein.. And Vitamins are taken daily because you will struggle to get enough from food early on... I've been taking chewable Multivitamin I got from the hospital since day 3..feeling good now 2 weeks out... I also disagree with choosing to only follow what rules you like..this surgery is hard on the body and I don't see why you would get surgery Just to sabotage yourself by heading down the slippery slope of cheating.... Everybody says oh I'll only have one cheat meal.. One turns into 2 and into 5...then you'll complain in 6 months why didn't I lose much???? 2 starladustangel and Lynda486 reacted to this

However not once did I state that I cheated! My tastebuds changed drastically after the surgery towards the Protein Shakes (Unjury & Premier) and I can’t find any Protein that won’t make my tummy hurt. Can you suggest something different? New&Improved 1,780 Posted November 11, 2019 You might have an issue with lactose.. In that case look for natural Protein or pea protein or even whey isolate i think...

You may want to try Syntrax Nectar. You can get it in normal shake flavors or in drink type flavors. Plus it is lactose free and an isolate instead of concentrate. I love the chocolate truffle flavor. I think that the bp store here offers sample sizes. I get my full size jugs of powder at Amazon. They are not overly sweet and have no weird aftertaste to me. Hang in there and I wish you luck! eta- here are sample sizes also info on why isolate is better than concentrate https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/syntrax-nectar-protein-powder-trial-sizes-17-flavors-to-choose-from Edited November 11, 2019 by Losingit2018 1 Krimsonbutterflies reacted to this
LastChance57 35 Posted November 11, 2019 I understand your feelings completely and compared- at least to me- it’s normal. Around the second week, I put different spices in my broth to make it taste better and I pretended like it was something different. The grocery store bought Bone Broth was the worst. But a friend told me about the Bariatric Pal Store and I bought the broth - it has 15 grams of Protein. They also have drinks with 15 grams of protein that taste good and not too sweet. (Everything I bought prior to the surgery is what I can’t stand now, including the whey powder, shakes, and anything sweet.) It was the only thing I could do to get my protein in at that point. The Bariatric Pal store powder Protein Drinks and broth ( with my own seasonings added like poultry seasoning, salt & pepper it tarragon, etc) did help. It’s hard and it’s a mind game but it’s only for now- not for always. The time will go quickly. Also, when you start eating purée food, you will feel much better because of the Vitamins & minerals that real food gives. I have read & saw on other sites that about the second week post op, people can get emotional. Well, I just knew I wouldn’t - until Day 9 post op hit me & I lost it. I melted down because I tried to do too much that day to shake the feelings of buyers remorse. Then, my hubby went to Red Lobster and had the nerve to bring home leftovers. Needless to say, that was his last time at Red Lobster. I yelled at him, cried (and I’m not a cryer), and I made him throw it out with the trash. Then, I couldn’t sleep & woke him up at 3:00 am & yelled at him again. I had buyers remorse big time. I couldn’t see the forest because of the trees. I had my 1st support meeting that week - which really helped a lot. It wasn’t very long after that where I was able to eat purée food and it made a world of difference! Keep hanging on! It will get better!😇 4 2 kia h, theexfatgirl, KarenLR75 and 3 others reacted to this
Jay19 76 Posted November 11, 2019 I think what your feeling is normal. I felt the same way on liquids. I was sick of liquids and I regretted the surgery. I was off work for 6 weeks and had too much time on my hands. I felt depressed, but that passed. There’s no manual or correct way to deal with wls. We all deal with is differently. Sorry for the negative Nancy’s responding because like I said there isn’t a one size fits all manual for wls. Don’t mind them 😉 1 Krimsonbutterflies reacted to this
