Missynik 2 Posted November 6, 2019 Had sleeve 2015, lost 60 lbs, gained back 25 lbs. Considering revision, but unable to decide between MGB or RNY. As all surgeries, they both have pros and cons. Revisions typically lose slower. Looking for experiences with either surgery. Please share!
GreenTealael 25,430 Posted November 7, 2019 DS/SIPS not an option?
gabybab 696 Posted November 7, 2019 I'm considering a revision as well. I'm 8.5 months out and stalling. My Dr reccomend the ds, but I chose the sleeve. Wondering @GreenTealael are you asking about the other surgeries ds/sips because it is a better choice than rny? Good luck on future decisions!

mcfluffington 179 Posted November 7, 2019 My surgeon says that DS/SIPS is more conducive to weight loss in a revision situation. I can't give you any first hand experience. I am hoping to have SIPS if for weight regain soon if my insurance okays it. I have read articles backing up the information given me by the surgeon.
Missynik 2 Posted November 7, 2019 Thanks for bringing this up, doing some research on SIPS now. Thanks for the advice.

No I was originally sleeved but converted to RNY But if you have the sleeve (with no complications) it was originally created to be 1/2 of the DS (and I guess now SIPS) process. RNY Is the progression to control reflux (what I had) If I had weight regain (but no reflux) with my sleeve I would have seriously considered DS/SIPS Speak with your surgeon and they will conduct testing which will ultimately make the final recommendations. NYCGAL000 59 Posted December 22, 2019 I had sleeve to mini bypass. Excellent results. Best thing I ever did. The mini is a thousand times better then the sleeve in every way.

I think it's very important to take into the equation why one wants/needs a revision. Anyway, results regarding revision and weight loss seem to vary a lot. 1 GreenTealael reacted to this
Photo925 100 Posted December 23, 2019 I had the sleeve and did the revision to the mini and if I could go back and not do the revision I would. I have gained back everything I lost and more, I have consistent reflux and vomit bile almost daily. I recently had a surgeon tell me that the mini was the worst choice for me and the surgeon who performed it, never should have. Not saying this is the same situation for you, but this was just my personal experience
Missynik 2 Posted December 23, 2019 I went with sleeve revision to full bypass on 12/6. Very happy with my decision. No reflux!
Losingit2018 1,170 Posted December 23, 2019 Sleeve to full bypass here on 11/22. No more reflux and no regrets. Losing weight pretty rapidly. 1 Tracyringo reacted to this
bikerchick519 202 Posted December 25, 2019 I had the sleeve and after horrible reflux had the mini because I was told it would fix it. Reflux is worse than ever and now I need a full bypass. Super upset I have to have another surgery. I wish I would have just gotten the full bypass and not the mini but that's what my surgeon recommended. Waiting to see if insurance will pay for this revision, they denied me last time. 1 Tracyringo reacted to this
NYCGAL000 59 Posted January 9, 2020 so sorry you guys are having such issues with the mini! I have no issues with reflux and the weight has been dropping off I love it! I guess it depends on your surgeon and body type. Dr Illan did an excellent surgery he does something to prevent the reflux issue
