This! Most of the positive comments from people in my life are well-intentioned, but I still don't want the extra attention... And also, oddly enough, I wasn't mentally ready to have the surgery until I was comfortable with the way I looked before I started losing weight! I worry I won't like my post-op body as much as my pre-op body...

Me too 😫

I have always been husky. But I have always loved me. The day of my surgery, I cried and asked my husband "what will I become"? "Will I recognize me?" "Will you still find me attractive?" I have a great career and it has been the focus of my adult life. My knees unfortunately are giving out. It's my weight over the years that had taken a toll on them and the fact my grandmother and mother both had to have double knee replacement. I want to continue to succeed in my career and be able to retire with the financial stability that will last my lifetime. I hope I will love the new me just as much as the old me.

I had weight loss surgery for one reason, my health. The amount of medications that I was taking to control all of my various health issues were going to affect my kidneys and liver to the point of dialysis or transplants. Today, my health has greatly improved and I appreciate the second chance in life to live it as healthy as I can. No matter the motive, if you can benefit from WLS I suggest you do so.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
