apppfgd 7 Posted November 6, 2019 Same here I had a quick recovery surgery on Friday 11-1 I right after surgery was tough I was put in a hospital chair and didn’t get in the bed until way later. I wasn’t in pain from my stomach instead the gas and pressure in your chest is tough getting used to I started walking right away you won’t feel like it but do it anyway walk at least 1x an hour increasing the distance each time also I started getting tiny amounts of Fluid in this is a major challenge and Water by itself just wasn’t going down I was able to tolerate Decaf tea with artificial sweetener not much but find what you can tolerate drinking feels terrible but it made me burp which is what you need get air moving I made sure the nurses were giving me my pain and nausea meds on time so I stayed ahead of those issues I was tired and was just sipping walking and napping in the chair for the first 8 hours the more you can walk the better you will feel I know everyone’s body and responses will be different good luck to everyone on this journey 1 MsBrown76 reacted to this

Migz 0 Posted November 22, 2019 (edited) Congratulations! Unfortunately gas may increase as a lingering result of the surgery and the smell may not be nice to say the least. I am 3 months post op and just started taking Phazyme for gas and Devrom for the smell. Both were recommended by my physician and are over the counter. BTW I had both a gastric bypass and a hiatal hernia repaired the same day. If you’re considering surgery in the DFW area I can highly recommend my doctor.
