I over did Thanksgiving!!!

Recommended Posts

I am scared to death of get on the scales. In fact, I refuse to. I had 13 people here on Thanksgiving. I did most of the cooking and I ate most of it!!!!!

My daughter, her hubbie and my 2 granddaughters were here plus my son in law's parents from Wednesday night to this morning(Saturday). So, you know we did a lot of eating. I am feeling so guilty!!! But not guilty enough to think about eating the left overs tonight for supper. However, tomorrow, anything left will go in the trash.

I was supposed to get a fill on the 5th, but the dr. office called and cancelled. So, I will have to reschedule and I promise to get back on track tomorrow. Hopefully I have not done too much damage.:help::angry

Clara,

I too overdid it on Thanksgiving. It's ok. Move on.

However, you must face the scale, just to keep yourself in check.

I just actually totaled the calories that I ate for Thanksgiving dinner... a whopping 900 calories!! And that is only for dinner. Then every night I have been having leftovers...so those meals are averaging about 700 calories.

For me, if I avoid the scale or avoid logging my food, it's as if it doesn't exist and I continue to overeat. The scale and food log hold me accountable.

Clara...

In the beginning of my banding days it was a real challenge due to some band problems but after that was fixed and I realized that I could eat... I did!! I ate everything in sight. For two days I should add.

The idea is to not put it off. Not tomorrow, not after one more meal, but now. Start back now.

I'm not so sure it's a bad thing to eat normal holiday food, but one meal then back on track. That's just my thinking, YMMV.

If you haven't had a fill yet, don't worry about it. BELIEVE ME, when you finally get good restriction you will NOT walk into a house full of food and expect to be able to eat much! My biggest quandry on Thanksgiving was whether or not to try the shrimp and remoulade sauce my cousin brought, knowing that two little shrimp would probably put a big dent in my turkey and dressing capacity (which it did). It's VERY hard at first without restriction to stay the course. This is when your brute will-power and determination needs to kick in. This will pass.

Clara, forgive yourself and move on. I ate and drank like a fish. I'm up a couple lbs too. Don't worry about it. Recommit and go get your fill. Julie

Well, Claramae, don't beat yourself over it, just remember that the amount you actually ate was probably very small in comparison to what you used to eat before the band. Like the others said, step on the scale, then move on. It probably won't be as bad as you think. I let myself eat pretty much anything I wanted on Thanksgiving then got back on track the next day. Sure i have to probably work a little bit extra at the gym on monday, but at least its all under control. Good Luck and enjoy the success you have had so far.

I'm not banded yet and Thanksgiving reaffirmed why I need to get this band. Me and my husband had two thanksgiving (his family and then mine) and I ate so much that I had heart burn, acid reflux, when I laid down I was PB'ing and I don't even have a dang band yet. LOL. But, I was MISERABLE. It made me realize I never want to stuff myself like that again. Stupidly I tried to justify it by saying "this is the last Thanksgiving I'll get to eat everything" so I did. But I was miserable when I did and I regret it now. But, I have to get over that. Today is a new day.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
