Muscle pain/nausea after activities post op

Recommended Posts

I’m two weeks post op. Any time I do anything )like shower, pick stuff off the ground, excessive walking, etc) I get abdominal cramping and nausea. The cramping is like doing a million crunches with zero muscle mass. I realize that I’m healing and stuff like that takes time but I can barely make it through my shower without getting shaky and nauseous. Haven’t shaved my legs in over two weeks. I feel gross. What are some things we can do to help lessen that discomfort and how long did it last for you?

It will pass - i went thru hell for 20 -30 days = You can try using the baby meds for Air, But only time will heal the wound, Make sure at this point you are getting the protien, The body needs good protien to heal. I will tell you shortly you will be out of that phase and it will be forgotten, it was a b***h but the payoff will be well worth it. As for shaving your legs get someone else to do it for you, You earned the right!

When I was in your position someone suggested a heating pad on and off my stomach throughout the day and it really helped!

I have had the same issues and I am 3 weeks out at this point. Both get better. If I was too active as far as doing things around the house or doing things that required bending I would get really bad muscle pain, if that happens I just try to relax the muscle for a day and then it’s usually better. As far as with the nausea and dizziness in the shower, I kind of assumed it was low blood sugar due to my body adjusting to this new way of life. I would just try to sit for a few minutes and took zofran and drank a bit of apple juice and it seemed to do the trick every time. Both of these problems are becoming much less common the longer out I am though

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
