I'll keep this one short and sweet...my slippage was corrected!!!!!!

The unfill allowed the stomach to go back down

I actually had 1cc left in my band from before, so he put in another 1.6cc giving me a total of 2.6cc in my 4cc band. But from here on (forever) I have to stick to 1-2oz a meal, no more. He did say I could have like 5 meals a day though. YEAH FOR MY BAND!!!!!!!

Wow, what in the world is the matter with me? I am 9 days post op and chewed on a piece of chicken enchilada. Of course I basically diluted it in my mouth, but now I'm so scared. Rightly so.

Did the doc not give you any hope for the unfill correcting the slip? My slip was corrected by the unfill. I know not everyone is so lucky though. I would probably contact your original surgeon in mexico to see what he says. I too was banded in mexico and self pay really sucks. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.

I have a slip after weeks of not being able to keep much of anything down. The stupid part was that i was finally starting to lose weight after being stuck at this weight for over a year, that i didn't go in for an un-fill. After a barium swallow showed the slip, i am un-filled, gaining weight and waiting for another barium swallow to see if my slip has corrected itself. In summary, my slip symptoms were: throwing up all food, stomach pain that made me want to throw up, and pain while eating even after the un-fill.

:sad:Anyone have any idea what percentage of banders experience slippage or other bad complications? I mean, what are the odds, assuming one follows the doctors orders...

According to Inamed US docs have the highest slip stats, over 7%. All other countries are around 3.1%. I suspect the reason is all the new docs wanting a piece of the banding pie (it's a good money maker) since they are going through their learning curve and the changes they have made in the post op diet.

I was orginally banded in November 2004, I lost 100lbs and was maintaining, then in November 2006 my band slipped badly. I went in to have it revised and when I woke up from surgery my doctor told me there was so much scar tissue around my the band site that she had to remove my band and I couldn't be re-banded for six weeks. In the six weeks that I had no band I gained back a lot of weight. In January 2007 my new band was put on... it lasted about 18months before it slipped too. Luckily this time there wasn't any damage and they simply changed my band from the slipped 4cc to the 10cc. So I was just rebanded in August 2008. My surgeon says that two slips is extremely rare and I was just wondering is anyone else had this happen?

Surgery schedue:

11/2004 -4cc band

11/2006- band removal

1/2007 - 4cc band

8/2008 - 4cc band removal and 10cc band placed

S/237/ Lowest 140/ C/166/ G/ 147

I had the lap band surgery on 12/23/2008. As you know I'm in the liquid phase of my diet. However, I have been having this nagging cough that won't go away. My cough is productive I'm concerned because I'm not sure if coughing like this all day long can cause slippage. Tonight I had a bad coughing spell for about five minutes, after the coughing spelling I felt something drop in my stomach followed by a lot of pain now when I take a deep breath I feel as though I am choking. Is this normal or should I be concerned. :hurray:

Please get to a doctor. A friend of mine got pneumonia right after surgery which can happen to someone who lays in bed for a few days. Please get checked and let us know how you're doing.

Went in for a fill saturday cause I've been able to eat way too much. Found out I had a small slip, so I got an unfil and I'm on fluids for 2 weeks. I'm hoping my stomach goes back into place!! I will update in 2 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
