Hello, I had surgery on August 12th. I'm currently 50 lbs dwn but I need quick lunch ideas. I'm an engineer and my work schedule is crazy working in plants. I've started eating Peanut Butter and bananas but it's making my blood sugar rise. Any suggestions will be appreciated. IMG_20191025_094124.jpeg

I like having yogurt for work lunches/snacks. Since it is a slider food I can eat a cup of high Protein greek yogurt in less than 10 minutes. If I tried that with lunch meat I could only get a bit in. I would also take a string cheese and could stick it in my pocket and take a few bites in a stairwell or elevator between breaks just to get more protein in. If I was desperate I would also have protein Water or Protein Shakes so i could get a few sips here and there.

I swear this is not a paid review, but I eat the Bariatric Pal Lite Entrees a few times a week that you can buy off the store on this site. Super quick.

Boiled eggs carrots cheese

Cucumbers hummus olives

Cuts of cheese & meats of your choice

Yogurt and fruit

Soup in a thermos

Cauliflower rice or mash and meatloaf

Meal prep will be key to a lot of these. Do you have Pinterest Instagram etc? There are TONS of people giving out great free advice and examples. Usually its under Keto meal preps

Yes I have Insta... I try and stay away from the keto pages. I tried that diet once and it made my cholesterol go way up.

Batch cooking has been my saviour for work lunches. Sunday is cooking day. I make savoury mince, meat balls, bolognese, marinated chicken strips, diced pork loin, chicken legs, sausages, etc. Once cooked I put single serves in zip lock bags or mini containers & freeze. Easy peasy to microwave at work. Add a small salad or some vegetables as you want and you’re set.
Cook a couple of dishes at a time & you have instant meals for a couple of weeks. Good for when you have those long work days too when the last thing you want to do when you get home is cook.
Plus because you’re cooking you’re controlling the ingredients, the fats/oils, salt, sugar, spices, etc. being added & portion sizes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
