Day 8: What lesson in life are you most grateful in experiencing?

Without getting into too much detail, I learned 7 years ago that when push comes to shove, and no matter how sh*tty I think my situation is, I learned that I am way stronger than I thought I ever was and, until I am dead, I can get through whatever comes my way eventually. 💪🏼

Nothing is ever over until its over.

Day 8 gratitude: This is a tough one... I think my response is similar to ms.sss, except I have two events, one from two years ago, and another from about two decades ago They were the toughest two things I've ever been through, but I'm thankful that I've been through them, because they shaped me into the person that I am today... and I feel like that person is pretty awesome 😉

Also, day 8 and still going strong! I'm really grateful for this challenge - it's helping me stay on track!

Day 7
As much as I intellectually know how much hormones matter in our lives, it's always astounding to me when confronted by it physically and emotionally! As soon as aunt Flo came, ALL cravings DIED off!!!!! Like it never happened [emoji50][emoji50][emoji50]
2 absolutely clean days without any angst, desires or cravings. All my usual vices paraded in front of me without an eyelash bat!! I didn't even see the goodies talk more of putting them in my mouth!!
So glad to know I don't have that much of a rebellious self sabotaging streak!!![emoji119][emoji119][emoji119] very grateful for that!!

Books I'm grateful for? Not even humanly possible to choose. I epitomize a serious bookworm and can't imagine life without books!! I'll still say though that because of the age and time I read "To kill a mockingbird " it had profound lifelong effects on me!!

Day 8 just began so I'll be back [emoji176][emoji176][emoji176]

7. Update: Well, I ate the other half of the candy bar yesterday at lunch. But, I had expected it so my plan was adjusted accordingly. And I have either have a cold or allergies but my head's all stuffed up and I'm full of sneezes and sniffles.

8. Hmm, no candy in the house so should be a good day. I think the life lesson I am most grateful for was the time I was married. I learned a lot and it changed the trajectory of my life.

Day 8: One of the life lessons I'm most grateful for is learning to always forgive. Whatever the issue may be, its not worth holding a grudge. Forgive people not for them, but for yourself, for your own peace! ❤️

Day 8: The life lesson I am most grateful to have learned is that it is never too late to take action to change the path and course of your life. Three years ago I was in bad physical shape, depressed and unable to do hardly anything. I thought at age 59 I was too old for things to improve. I am so grateful that I was wrong and that I was able to make positive changes and am now much healthier and happier. I now look forward to the future where I used to dread getting up every day.

Day 8
Completed day 2 of clean eating after a VERY shaky start of this challenge. Craving sweets (my nemesis) has been minimal.

Life lesson I am grateful for? Uhnmm?[emoji848][emoji848] I don't know why I always rely on cliches when I want to communicate my "deep" thoughts![emoji28] But life lesson is the power of Never Saying Never and NEVER work on someone else's time but mine as my time will come and it will be perfect for me.
Many instances in my life when I have wondered if something was achievable and when I wait long enough and put effort, I achieve it at the right time for me.
I'm grateful for these experiences as I'm significantly more self assured than I thought I could ever be[emoji176][emoji176][emoji176]

Day 9: What place have you traveled that you are most grateful for?

Probably the time we lived in Australia for a year. We got to totally immerse ourselves there and basically become locals. We also got to take multiple vacations-within-vacations to places in and around Australia that were only a couple hours flight away (vs. a day from Toronto). Plus I wasn't working the entire time so that was awesome ;)

Day 8 update: Ok, so I've had these ice cream bars in my freezer since last Spring and I didn't care until yesterday when I ate one. Definitely challenged by this challenge. Hmmm, have some head work to do.

Day 9: Wow, I'm glad that I've been to all the places I've been. I learned things and had fun. But, you know, a few years ago, my mother and I visited Argentina where she was born and I am very happy that we had that trip together.

And on a side note, I visited the endocrinologist yesterday and I officially no longer have diabetes! Yay!!! This journey itself has been so worth it!

B-Side Question: How has your S/O been handling all of the changes since WLS?

Mr. has been the exact same towards me and my different lifestyle as he was before. I think all the changes either were non-issues or just bonuses from his point of view.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
