11/4-7:

4: Its hard to figure out the memory I'm most grateful for. I feel a rush of love and nostalgia thinking about everything (except Exes they can walk the plank 😝) but i guess comparing my childhood memories to when my children were very young gets me utterly misty eyed

5: Im not going to lie, Washer and Dryer. I can't really operate without them. I no laundry literally nonstop not because i have so much but because I think I'm a touch germaphobe 😳

6. Very warm days with peaceful sun rises win hands down. Colorful changing seasons are a second runner up, rainstorms at bedtime. 🙌

7. Tip top of my list: Torah. I'm a Hebrew 😍, beyond that Sci-fi, thrillers, fantasy, etc.

What book am I most grateful for?
The Outsiders. I had such a crush on Ponyboy. That was the first book I ever read for fun (age 12 or so) and it opened my eyes to a new world. I wish I could finish that sentence with the word literature! I tend to read trashy novels and true crime books.

Day 7: What book are you most grateful for?

Oh, there are waaaaay to many. I love to read. Maybe a little too much. I have to limit my book reading because I tend to pick one up and not put it down, to the point that I won't sleep because I just need to finish it. I can finish a really good novel in 1-3 days (depending on how long it is). Then I need a couple days to recover and catch up on sleep.

I also tend to re-read particularly favourite books of mine, over and over and over and over.

...so just so I can provide an answer to this question, of all the books I have in the basement at the moment, I think right now I would like to re-read The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay as I haven't re-read it in a while (I would say it is probably in my top 20 books of all time):

Me, too. I don't even know how many times I've re-read them. Which is your favorite? Mine is the first. The wonder of him finding a whole new reality was so well done.

Same! And yeah I agree, the 1st was one of the most memorable.

It’s tough to choose but I have to say the 4th, the Goblet of Fire. The 4th is where (for me at least) things get REAL. It was so intense with so much going on! You got the competition happening, other characters introduced, "moody" setting him up, Dumbledore trying to distance himself from Harry, and the connection in Harry's mind with Voldemort building. Harry's lonelier than ever in this one. Don't even get me started on the ending! Voldemort coming to life, Harry seeing his parents for the first time once he got sucked into the Triwizard cup and brought into the graveyard, his parents helping him escape, and Cedric dying..... mind blown! 🤯 I've also seen the 4th so many times that my DVD broke.

Sorry lol I get carried away.

What is my favorite book?

My favorite book is not a book I reread all the time or think its the greatest book ever written.

It is the novel Letting Go by Philip Roth.

I was severely depressed when I read it and I finished it in one day.

That next day my depression had lifted.

Reading it was like going through therapy for me. The relationship between the mother and son reminded me so much of my grandmother and my father. I think that is why it had such an impact on me.

Favorite book:

This might be the hardest question yet!

I love The Call of the Wild by Jack London. The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath is pretty amazing too. The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a tough, but great, read about the way love always prevails. Ray Bradbury and Steve Matheson are favs- so many others, too!

I usually tend to gravitate to contemporary thrillers and science fiction in everyday reading though.

Day 7 gratitude: I can only pick one?!? 😄 I looked through my book list and choosing a favorite is pretty literally impossible. I'm going to narrow it down to one series - The Dark Tower, by Stephen King. It's a series I try to re-read every 5-10 years, and it's one of the few I still own in print.

Day 7: What book am I most grateful for? I had to give this a lot of thought since I have been an active reader for my whole life. I was the pasty white kid who stayed inside all summer reading books because I just love to read. There is one book I have kept on my nightstand since it was published and it is called "Healing Hearts" by Dr. Hisashi Nikaidoh. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Nikaidoh for about 10 years at a children's hospital--he is a pediatric heart surgeon and one of the most amazing doctors I have ever worked with. He wrote the book about some of his experiences as a surgeon after losing his physician son in a tragic accident. Some of the families he writes about are people that I knew and worked with. Working with him and many others at the start of my career really shaped me as a nurse and nurse practitioner. When I read it even now it reminds me of how fortunate I have been to spend my career taking care of other peoples' children. I have definitely received so much in return from these amazing kids and their families.

Well,a diversionary note- it's Cat Box cleaning Day, slipped up its Daily Tidying because of too many. Human Doctor trips, I THINK THAT IS AN EXVUSE- but not sure they will concur Much LONGER. Too much to bag and dump in the Trash , bucket it and dump it out near the Back,Fence Line where the aroma doesn't return back inside. Love them 2 little Kitty Cats, grateful for Their 💓 but if they gave medals for "Fecal Production" they both would Receive a Medal of Honor. But what more can I say? They jump up on my lap, purr, cuddle in , act like I'm the Greatest Thing since Clean Water and Sliced bread & I'm PussyCat- whipped Again!🐺;🐱

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
