The idea of being filthy while wearing wet wool gives me anxiety! Best memory. A few hours after my first kid was born I was alone with him in my hospital room. I just was in awe. All I could think of to say was “Nice to meet you”. He’s 31 now, and I couldn’t ask for a nicer kid. It was indeed nice to meet him. It was just as nice to meet my other kids, but this memory sticks out. 3 1 FluffySaysForkIt!, KarenLR75, GreenTealael and 1 other reacted to this
MarvelGirl25 2,168 Posted November 4, 2019 Day 3: The food I'm most currently grateful for would have to be chicken and watermelon. There's so many different dishes you can make with chicken and its been the best source of Protein for me since its so easily digested. I chose watermelon too because it was what got me through my horrible recovery. I wasn't able to tolerate any kind of Protein Shakes or food except for watermelon. Day 4: Best memory I'm grateful for ... hmmm.. let see... there's just so many to chose from. I'm grateful for each Christmas & New Year's spent with my family. These two holidays are such a huge thing in my family and Ill forever cherish the parties and time I spend with them. I'm looking forward to this year! As for the November challenge, well I ate potatoes two days in a row... My nutritionist said potatoes are perfectly fine to eat so but I also hear a lot of people staying away because of Keto. Ive been able to stay away from everything else though! 5 KarenLR75, Orchids&Dragons, FluffySaysForkIt! and 2 others reacted to this
KarenLR75 516 Posted November 4, 2019 (edited) Just starting today so a few days late. I actually have been thinking about needing to be more positive and grateful so once again, you have started a wonderful monthly challenge. 1. Personal Goal - lose and reach a goal I want badly for myself even though it is not 'low enough' for my height. I want to be around 170. The "charts" all want me to be 140 but I've been 170 before throughout many years of my adult life however that being said, I was younger and more physically fit and I had a SMALL waist and flat stomach so most ppl assumed I was much lighter than I was. So perhaps when I hit 170 with all of my excess skin, I may realize that I need to change this goal but for now that is the weight I'd love to reach. 2. Had RNY on 7/25 - Post-Op losing weight stage 3. Am 281.4 as of this morning (from high of 390) and BMI just hit 45!! Can't believe when I started this journey 2 years ago and started a low carb lifestyle (15+ months BEFORE surgery), that my BMI was 62.9! 11/1: Grateful I had WLS. Wish I had done it sooner, but glad I got it done 11/2: Computers & internet connectivity that make it possible to work on employer's network while working remotely. Was such a huge blessing to have a flexible schedule (although we work insane hrs) to help care for my best friend during her battle with brain cancer and then my Mom's awful 3 year battle with dementia. 11/3: Grateful I made it to another bday alive..although I'm not enamored of whole 'aging' thing, as my Dad used to say "it beats the alternative". Kind of feels weird as I'm am getting 'older' yet due to the weight loss and exercising, I feel better than I did in my 40's! I don't 'feel' my age. Oh yeah, food I'm most grateful for - Kroger Carbmaster yogurt! 11/4: Like others said - the birth of my kids. So many sweet memories of them when they were younger. But ANY memory of my Mom & Dad are some of the most precious ones I have. I had INCREDIBLE parents. One of my sweetest memories with my Mom (at start of dementia journey) was us seeing Susan Boyle perform at Bass Performance Hall. It was my bday present for her. My youngest brother paid to rent a 'limo' to see us to concert "in style". Well, this is TX but boy were we SHOCKED when a HUGE white limo with horns on it pulled into her driveway. It was so OVER THE TOP. My best friend who was still fighting her brain cancer battle cracked up hysterically over pics of my Mom in this limo with me & neon lighting all around..she said "your Mom looks like she is being held hostage". We both were laughing when the limo deposited us outside the performance hall and everyone was checking us out...LOL. The concert was lovely and my Mom who smiled all the time but often does not smile in pics...was so happy. We nestled against each other for most of the concert. Oh sweet Jesus, I miss her so much..thank you for letting me have her as a Mom. MIZ60 1,291 Posted November 4, 2019 Day 4: The memory I am most grateful for is being able to be with my mom 24/7 during the last few days of her life while she was on hospice care. She passed away 19 years ago at the age of 65 from horrible metastatic cancer. I know it made her more comfortable that I was there. At the time, we lived across the country but I was able to take time off of work to make sure I was there. I would not trade those memories for anything. Well we are going to a football get together with our tribe tonight (GO COWBOYS) but I am taking some stuff that is fine for me to eat and my one friend is making delicious ceviche. Plenty of grilled stuff too. I am sure I will have a bit of tequila but it will be as little as possible. 6 1 GreenTealael, Sheribear68, MarvelGirl25 and 4 others reacted to this

seaforest 562 Posted November 4, 2019 Day 4. So far, so good on the food challenge. I have so many memories that I cherish that it is hard to choose one in particular. Perhaps that's the point of the challenge, to remember all that has been good or good for us in this life. There are people, fur babies, events, places and times that are all so wonderful. I was thinking that my memories of meeting and overcoming challenges are huge (like when I was rock climbing and made it to the top) because they help me know that I can do pretty much anything I set my mind to. That helps a lot. 5 GreenTealael, KarenLR75, ms.sss and 2 others reacted to this
mousecat88 2,281 Posted November 4, 2019 Start by: 1. Posting your personal goal WLS goal: Finish plastics and tone up! Life goal: Make money, buy cats. 2. Add your surgery type, status (pre/post op, losing/maintenance) RNY, still losing but need to be in maintenance! 3. Weight and BMI (not necessary but encouraged) In ticker! 4. Tell us what you are grateful according to the day This is tough... I can't think of just one memory I am grateful for. I guess waking up from all of my many surgeries I've had is a good one. LOL. Also the days I chose to breakup with dysfunctional boyfriends of yesteryear. Those were all good memories. lmao.. 5 KarenLR75, FluffySaysForkIt!, MarvelGirl25 and 2 others reacted to this

Sheribear68 3,201 Posted November 5, 2019 Okay so currently the memory I am most grateful for is the memory of what being a cancer patient feels like. I can remember waking up feeling like crap and crying in the shower as I drug my exhausted, chemo-filled body up for another day of work and single-mom stuff. I was 40 and had a 12 and 16yo and nobody really to help me. I didn’t know if I would see the next holiday, or next year. How many of my kids milestones would I miss? Well I made it through, but it made me even heavier then when I started. I gained from the mid 220’s up to almost 250 while I was on chemo for a year, as incredible as that is to believe. During the last 10 years my weight has fluctuated between 202-272. I started to forget what being so sick for so long felt like and I started to become hopeless I would be able to lose excess weight. Quite honestly I was getting comfortable with being morbidly obese. I found (and married) the love of my life, and he loved me no matter what my weight was. Then in early 2018 another cancer scare: I had to take a good, hard look at how I’d been (not) taking care of my body since round 1 of cancer and I didn’t like what I saw. The #1 risk factor for cancer is obesity. Luckily the scare was just a false alarm, but it got my attention and I started desperately looking for something—- some tool I could use to help me exit the roller coaster of metabolic syndrome Well that desperation led me to WLS, and for that I’m thankful. 6 1 1 MarvelGirl25, seaforest, GreenTealael and 5 others reacted to this

Memory I'm most grateful for: Too numerous to count but I'll say I get these flashes of my childhood with my incredible parents and siblings as I watch my own kids grow and my heart just gets warm and I even get goosebumps!! Like Karen mentioned, I had/have incredible parents and memories of their warmth is what I'm always grateful for and try to emulate [emoji176]🧡Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 6 GreenTealael, seaforest, ms.sss and 3 others reacted to this
seaforest 562 Posted November 5, 2019 5. I suppose the item I'm most grateful for after my fur babies is my bed! I love being all cozy and comfortable. Did well on the food challenge yesterday. My meals are all plotted out so as long as there aren't any hazards at work or yoga tonight, I should be all good. 4 FluffySaysForkIt!, GreenTealael, ms.sss and 1 other reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted November 5, 2019 let's see 2nd- my technological HAPPY- bariatric surgery, DaVinci robots, a wonderful teaching/ land-grant college in OSU- WEXNER Medical Center- the "Bells and Perks" that allowed ME to go through RNY surgery at 72, not only SURVIVE the SURGERY, which, let's face it, could have resulted at one time to die on the table, and that I still am traveling this road toward finding the True Buried ME underneath my FatShell and Sorrows. A good type to be grateful for? Protein Shakes they are still important in my protein- deficency- prone- existence, perhaps forever? TODAY the 5th- that I still have heat and a roof over my head- Landlord and I are locked in a BATTLE- my rent has become untenable- 2/3 of my monthly Social Security allotment- can't pay him, utilities, life and household insurances and have any cash left to supplement foods when my food Stamp allotment is exceeded. According to Metro balance sheet, applied but voucher has not come through, I should be paying no more than $286 monthly for shelter costs, WELL this place is a WHOLE LOT MORE than THAT! Looking fairly frantically for another place, so far no LUCK, senior housing won't take my son cause he's under 50, let alone 62, most places won't willingly take even 2 small cats, one demanded I get rid of one and have remaining ones claws amputated, which is truly what declaring is. Lease up, Landlord making Eviction noises, trying to at least appease him , if I caught up totally it would be 1.40 times my social security, government doesn't pay in advance, you know, "So No Way Jose" there. Tried to budget it all out, ask for Social Agencies help, 2 different face- to- face meetings still on tap in November. And some of my elective surgeries are becoming Mandatory- this is a BAD SITUATION for This Old Girl, exhausted what savings Tomkitten and I had to hold on even THIS FAR, ding- donged if I know where to jump, CAN'T AFFORD TO STAY- CAN'T AFFORD TO MOVE- but at This point still WARM and under Roof. And for the upcoming 6th- my area of Ohio hasn't had snow yet! And my last 5th thought- I live in a Free Country where I have the chance to exercise my VOTE and I will go to the polls this afternoon. Elect local leaders, and confound the REST who THOUGHT they had a sure thing to be elected! I can complain with fervor, can't I , because I DID Care enough for my city and country's state of being, I VOTED, always have since I became of Legal Age, 55 years ago! FRUSTR8 OUT for NOW!😝👍🌈🇺🇸 2 1 KarenLR75, GreenTealael and FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this
