Recommended Posts

I am a know it all. I know everything there is to know about every possible subject anyone could possibly think of.

Ha Ha Ha Ha....... Wouldn't that be nice! I wish I knew how to make fancy lettering and stuff.

I think that if you really have a problem with someone or certain people, then you should PM them solve it on a more mature basis rather than calling them out on a thread and seeing how many people you can get to "back you up"

It's passive aggressive bullshit. They don't have the balls to say what they mean, so they "poke" till someone bites, then cry about how mean the "know it all's" and "oldies" are.

josiebies--What's the difference between a "know-it-all" vs. a "non-know-it-all"?

I deleted my response. It was very rude. Lol. Boy it felt good to type though.

I am glad you re posted it. And it was nowhere near as rude as the OP.

My question is: When is it a crime to be knowledgable?? I mean, I think everyone has a right to post their experiences and to me, I think it is a privledge to hear their tips to success. You can either take their advice/experiences or leave it. I mean, this forum has really helped me so very much about what to expect before, during and after the lap band procedure.....am I'm not even banded yet!!! LOL.

I would have to say that some people just can't take constructive criticism. There's nothing wrong with being pointed in the right direction. Obviously, it's NOT okay to eat a big piece of steak during the mushy period, or to puree Cookies, ice cream, and candy so you can make a delicious "healthy" shake. Um...hello??

I think all of the "oldies/know it alls" should keep doing what they're doing as far as sharing their experiences and giving the newbies advice. Results don't lie!!!!

I think that if you really have a problem with someone or certain people, then you should PM them solve it on a more mature basis rather than calling them out on a thread and seeing how many people you can get to "back you up"

I have to agree. Some people think that "support" is all about agreeing with whatever they are doing. It isn't. They want to hear "yes, what you are doing is just fine" and "you're right, that's the perfect plan, you'' be very successful." The plain fact is that there are certain things that bandsters shouldn't be doing, and it isn't "unsupportive" to point that out. People scream that they are being attacked when someone points out that they shouldn't be eating solids or an entire bag of candy or a quart of ice cream (when even they have said that they've jumped ahead in their diet). They scream attack when they ask people to give their input and someone gives input that they don't like.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Support isn't always about saying "yes, dear." It's about pointing out where people might be going wrong and trying to help them rectify the situation. And like it or not, the best people to do that are the "oldies" who have been around the block a time or two. Call them "know-it-alls" if you want. I personally call them inspiration. I sure as hell hope that if I suddenly start posting about how I eat nothing but junk food and don't exercise and that I'm wondering why I'm not losing weight, that they'll slap some sense into me. THAT is true support, not them telling me that I'm doing wonderfully and to keep doing what I'm doing.

Ahhhh Chickie, it truly is a sad sad world. On a side note, and maybe to some I might come off as "kissing ass" (LOL), but you look absolutly spectacular. I hope to one day have such success!!! Keep up the good work love! :(

Thank you! I am sure that you can do anything you set your mind to! Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
