AZhiker 2,253 Posted October 24, 2019 One factor is GERD which can be greatly improved by gastric bypass, but made worse with the sleeve. If GERD is already an issue, then it seems like an easy decision to have the bypass. 1 FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this

New&Improved 1,780 Posted October 24, 2019 I feel it is the best available surgery and best chance of long term success and to help cure my diabetes and other issues. I didn't want to worry about having 2 surgeries if I went to vsg and had any issues or complications. 1 FluffySaysForkIt! reacted to this
Briswife15 890 Posted October 25, 2019 How do you know which surgery is best for you? Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile appHi, K. Lee, and welcome. Do lots of reading and educate yourself. I chose bypass because I had GERD, and I know I'm crazy, but I'm a recovering sugar addict, and wanted the fear of dumping that comes with bypass!! I'm very happy with my choice. Diabetes is gone, high blood pressure gone, knees feel better, etc. Of course the same would hold true if I'd had the sleeve, I'm just happy I had bariatric surgery!!Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app 1 AZhiker reacted to this

Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app I felt the same way about sugar and dumping. Sugar is not something I should ever eat again, so why not seal the deal with bypass? No way I want to ever experience dumping!
