How long to surgery from initial referall

I was told anywhere from 4 to as long as 12 months

It largely depends on your insurance company. If you are self pay it will undoubtedly take less time than insurance since most insurances require a 3 to 6 month medically supervised diet.

It took me at least a month from the referral from my PCP to see the surgeon (probably more like 6 weeks). Saw the surgeon for the 1st time on May 20, had surgery Sept 4. My co-morbidities and insurance allowed me to get into surgery faster than most insurances at their office. They (BCBS Federal) require 4 monthly nutrition appointments instead of 7. And I had enough supporting documentation from my other docs.

Thank you 5 weeks to hear back only to be told I need to have a endoscopy to rule out GERD another 2 months for that I’ve had heart issue so they want to stay away from gastric bypass
