I wonder if I can get some advice. I'm 4 and a half months out of surgery and this month I am 17 days late getting my period. I have done pregnancy tests all negative and wonder if anyone else has experienced this? Is it normal? Any advice would be great?

Yes youre period can get wake because you are on such restricted calories. I am six weeks out and i haven't had a period yet... I know it s because my body is in shock and on extremely low calories and having Endometriosis doesnt help. but it IS normal. Think about how anorexics lose their periods. its because they calories are so low. Same thing here.

Thank you so much for your reply. Will have to wait a bit longer. Am guessing it will return to normal at some point. Wish you lots of luck with your journey.

Lucky you. Im 13 days post op and I got my period the night before surgery (boy was that horrific the day of) and it hasn’t let up yet. I have an iud and my period NEVER lasts longer than two days. I’m nearing the end of the 5 year limit for my iud (December) so that could be playing a role in this as well, beside the fact that my body went through a trauma.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
