Yellow area around stich

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I did my gastric bypass surgery last Monday (Oct 14th) and I'm feeling great despite the gas pains and some weakness from time to time. Last Friday I noticed that the area around one (and just one) of my stiches has turned kinda yellow. It doesn't hurt at all, but I was wondering if it's normal.

My doctor told me to go to his office tomorrow and I got scared. What do you guys think?

PS: Sorry about the bad English, I'm from Brazil and I'm still learning.IMG_20191020_092134.jpeg IMG_20191020_092054.jpeg

It looks to me that your bruise is healing normally and therefore turning yellow.

I’m not a doctor but your healing looks fine to me.

Looks like bruising to me. I had the same thing around 1 of my lower ones. My belly basically looks like a punching bag right now.

Did they give you a Lovenox shot right before your surgery? It would have been in your side or belly. It is a short term acting blood thinner to help keep you from getting blood clots in your legs after surgery. Works well but the down side is you can get awful skin bruising where your punctures and sutures are. That's what your picture looks like--healing bruises.

Boa Sorte e ben vinda!

Thank you guys. You were all right. My doctor said that this is completely normal. Nothing wrong here.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
