Charlotte1015 2 Posted October 19, 2019 Hey everyone! I just had my gastric sleeve surgery on Tuesday, October 15th 2019. My first day after was awful due to the fact that I nor my doctor knowing I was allergic to morphine. The very next day(thursday) I never felt better!! Getting better and better everyday!! I just want to learn any tips and tricks to help me recover and get the most out of this lifestyle. All advice is welcome! Also, does anybody know if and when it is safe to resume my lisinopril? Is it too early to take that pill? Thanks everyone! 2 dena81 and FluffyChix reacted to this

Lynda486 784 Posted October 19, 2019 I was told I could resume all medication once I got home. I am thinking I may be able to quit my Lisinopril! 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

FluffySaysForkIt! 823 Posted October 19, 2019 Congrats on making it through surgery! I would double check with your Doctor about taking the Lisinopril. They may need to monitor & modify your dose post surgery as things can change pretty rapidly blood pressure wise- hopefully for the better. Good Luck to you! 2Bsmaller18 436 Posted October 19, 2019 If you have one sore spot that seems to be the skin/incision you can try an ice pack(with a towel so it’s not too cold). That localized and numbed sore spots so I could back off on pain meds. sleep with 2 pillows, roll on your side and put legs off the side of the bed so you don’t use your ab muscles to get out of bed. 2Bsmaller18 436 Posted October 19, 2019 Lots of short walks. If you are not up to waking just walk or march in place to increase your activity. If you go to the bathroom don’t immediately go sit down, walk in place or around the house. Don’t do a lot of bending over or be tempted to lift. It hurt to try and vacuum until week 2. If you take pain meds they mask the pain and you may not realize you are over doing it. I backed off pain meds during the day but kept taking them at night. You need to get a decent nights sleep to help recover.
2Bsmaller18 436 Posted October 19, 2019 Stay hydrated-have a timer on your phone or if you are watching TV make yourself drink an ounce every commercial or every 10 minutes.
