Psych appointment scheduled

Recommended Posts

My psych appointment is scheduled for Oct 25 and that’s the last milestone. If all goes well I’m hoping for surgery the first week of Dec.

I’m vacillating between excited and second guessing myself. I’ve been able to lose the presurgery weight pretty easily so I am telling myself I could just keep going that way. I also know I’ve lost weight before and it’s keeping it off that’s the real challenge... back and forth back and forth ...

You'll do just great! I hear you about the vacillation, I'm losing weight on my own by modifying my diet which is super cool. I just don't think I could keep it up long enough to lose the significant amount of weight that I want to lose with the bypass surgery as a kickstarter and tool I can use to succeed. Try to breathe and trust your own process.

Good luck with the Psych! Like you, I'm good at losing weight, but not so good at keeping it off. Hoping WLS will help me in that regard!!

I think we all suffer from that issue. We can all lose weight just hard to keep it up long term.

Good job on the presurgery loss. I’ve been successful with mine as well. I’ve lost 53 pounds since I started my weight loss journey in May and people are asking if I need the surgery since I’m losing weight. I’ve struggled with my weight practically my whole life since my late teens. It always comes back. Even though this is the most weight I’ve ever lost. I have completed all of the required steps and just waiting for insurance approval. My doc is hoping to get me scheduled for November or December.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
