Hey, FluffySaysForkIt! Thanks so much for your post, and the tips for doing dip nails! I think I feel confident now to try it myself!! I'll be more gentle on my nails than they would be at a salon, and for sure save money! Does the polish stay for 10 days, too? Or do you have to repolish frequently? I always thought the colored powder was what you wanted for the color. I never thoughr about doing clear and then painting them.

The polish lasts that long (and longer) for me almost always, though it may start to wear a bit at the tips if I am really hard on them. You can, if you want to/need to, take off the polish and re do it before doing a new dip set without any problem though. You would maybe need to buff very lightly again to smooth a bit before repolishing is all. Easy!

I have tried the colored dip some, but I like the polish over clear option the best for myself. (Though I can see how other people would like it as it saves nail polishing steps and would not wear off color wise at all, ever.) I just don't like being "stuck" with one color once I dip and it's much easier to find the exact shade I like in a traditional polish.

I like to use Essie brand polish and I clear top coat it twice. If you "cap" the outside edges of the nails with clear top coat the polish job will hold up much longer too.

If you decide to give it a go, post a pic. :) Hope it works well for you!

I’m taking Biotin with collagen.

@Healthy_life2 I've just been taking Biotin. Do you mind me asking if you are supplementing with collagen and if so, what brand/type do you use or is it a combo pill/patch/capsule has BOTH biotin AND Collagen in it?

I'm worried about not just my nails but my hair. I already have horribly thin hair due to early menopause, blood thinners, etc. - of course I try to ensure I hit Protein goals for hair...does protein help with nails too?

Hi, FluffySaysForkIt. Just wanted to say I ordered a powder dip nail kit and plan to do it on Saturday. I'm nervous! Any last minute tips you've learned from doing it yourself? How many hours should it take me? Wish me luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
